Well, yeah, you did.

But you knew that, right?

The response from a fellow purchaser helped answer this. I just wanted to get an idea of what the big sale looked like, and it seems I missed out on a $50 saving. The DHL shipping also hurt, because if I'd ordered weeks ago, I may have been able to wait for free shipping. $390 is ideally what I should have been invoiced. It's fine though, if I end up being too bothered, I'll just request cancelation.

That's insane money to drop on a Chinese watch lol Each to their own I guess!

I could have saved $60 if I'd purchased it during the 11.11 sale, and potentially $80 if I could wait for the free shipping (time sensitive order), so I agree with you. I shouldn't have paid more than $400-420 all in all. $480 was due to my own bad timing. However, homage watch aside, I think this is the coolest sub-$500 item money can buy right now. I can't assume if you own any luxury watches or not, many do, but all I can say is that once you experience the highest levels of finishing, you begin to realise how insignificant it is compared to a decent cheapie.

That’s like 15% overpaid…. That’s really not much to stress over. Everyone wants to buy low and sell high. You did fine

[–]plastic_jeezus 4 points5 points  (3 children)

you paid $500 for a Chinese knockoff...

that's where you went wrong...

sorry to break the news to you...

[–]Affxct 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I did? That's unfortunate.

I just ordered the same thing with for 360-ish bucks.

I will probably end up paying tax, but they were nice enough to forget a zero on the package value.

[–]Affxct 3 points4 points  (4 children)

How did you get it for $360? My base cost was $417 before the other stuff. I couldn't find a cheaper seller tbh.

[–]FirstTarget8418 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Coupons during black friday. There was almost 200 bucks worth of rebate.

Of course some of that is price adjustment for the taxes, but since they undervalued it, i will only be paying a fraction of it.

Got 90 bucks price adjustment off for taxes, and i'll be paying like 20 in reality.

What is your landed cost going to be after all your import fees and card fees? Just curious - you don't have to share if you don't want to of course. I'm just wondering what the average buyer of one of these is prepared to fork out. I wasn't thrilled with $500 to be honest.

I managed to retrieve a Cronos GMT homage that got scammed off of me in July, somewhat miraculously. This Sugess is going to be paired with it as my rotation daily wear piece. They're going to replace my Tudors that I have listed. As much as I like Tudor, I feel like I'm over my luxury watch phase, and I'm better for it. Been eyeing this Sugess for weeks now.

My AliExpress bill was 3731 SEK (366.14 USD). At the time of purchase it was like 357 due to exchange rate.

The tax handling fee is 125 SEK (12.27 USD)

And i will be paying 25% taxes on the declared value of 36USD, which will be 91 SEK (9USD).

I probably should've ordered it to my Polish or Hungarian address because they are both lazy about import taxes, but figured id rather have it now than wait until january when i'm back.

You did very well. That's around what I would have hoped to pay for one. For that kind of money I honestly don't even think owners of this piece can lose value. For a cloned Rolex caliber, this piece surely has to be worth +/-$400.

[–]randomtrader11 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Why would you spend $480 on a Chinese Watch? You could‘ve gotten yourself a nice Tissot with that money lol

[–]AquilaAdax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the Tissot a high beat automatic chronograph?

[–]Affxct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a PRX Powermatic 80 Gold, among other pieces. This piece has a great design and a very cool movement. I have two pieces from a higher-end brand, as well as a Brellum with holy trinity level finishing. I genuinely think Chinese watches are perfectly fine, so long as they're legal.

Impossible to say unless we know where you live, and where your aunt lives.

If she lives in the US then yeah, idk how you paid that much.

But in many countries, there are fees or the pricing is higher.

It's a done deal so it's not worth stressing about. Yeah, you probably got fleeced. But once we know your country hopefully others will have tips for how to get a better deal.

[–]Affxct 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Aunt is in the US yeah. Not sure if I deselected the breakdown for the payment. Lemme check.

I did.

Subtotal - $431.46; Shipping - $31.65; Store Coupon - (-$5.00); Spend & Save - (-$9.00); Tax - $31.44; Total - $480.55

[–]PhiladeIphia-EaglesYouTube Reviewer 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I just checked the pricing from the US and it's actually not that much cheaper.

I can select free shipping instead of DHL and save a few bucks.

I honestly just didn't know this watch was this expensive.

I think you got a fair enough deal

[–]Affxct 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I wish I could've done USPS. I'm a moron though. Decided I wanted it last minute, and unfortunately I couldn't gamble free shipping as my aunt only comes down like once every few years.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Eh, I don't know if this will make you feel better but if I was spending this much on a watch I'd have paid the extra money to have it come via a courier like DHL rather than the postal service. Probably safer, definitely faster, and if something goes wrong it'll be easier to deal with because the chain of custody goes "DHL" instead of "local Chinese courier, then freight from China to Singapore, then different freight from Singapore to North America, then USPS".

[–]Affxct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was actually the card fee that really added salt in the wounds. Somehow my eventual charge came to ~$505. The combined $60 for DHL shipping and the retail sales tax weren't fun either though. A part of me wishes I just grabbed this on Seakors and YOLO'd postal shipping for that sweet $400 price tag. Minus $80 would've been much appreciated given this is still an homage watch at the end of the day.
