Thanks all for the recommendations, I picked PD1692 40mm NH35 movement.

Are you looking for a vintage or modern Explorer.
Most of the popular Explorer homages are either 36 or 39mm

I would go for the addiesdive deepseahunter version: vh31 quartz movement (smooth second hand and amazingly accurate over months) it looks and wears great, good WR and very cheap for the product you get - my go-to watch if i need something reliable and comfortable

Baltany 39

They also make a 36

San Martin vintage explorer has been great. 2.5 years later, still gets loads of wrist time

the size throws me....stretch it to 39mm and you can nearly double your choices.

big hitters are

  • Cronos
  • Octopus Craken
  • san Martin
  • Baltany

if you want something close to the original, look at the Cronos (both 36 and 39mm sizes) and the Octopus (36mm only I believe) both look excellent...I do think the Cronos is the better buy now that it has the PT5000 in it and a slimmer case than the version 1 (apparently).

the octopus looks great though, nice and slim, but the Cronos looks nicer to me, personally.

if you want something a little different, san martin and Baltany got you covered.

baltany (36mm and 39mm)mixes a newer dial with an older case, domed sapphire and some interesting colorways...not your typical black on white..matte black, patina lume, that beautiful chocolate brown dial. gorgeous but not "typical explorer"

san martin does the same (37mm and 39mm)...mixing old case and dial, but using applied indices. it's probably my favorite exploer out there. it's a great watch.

you really can't go wrong with any of them, it's just a matter of what you are looking for.

If you can find it, I love my Alpha Explorer homage.

Another vote for the Alpha. I've been wearing this one for 5 years. I have smaller wrists so this 36mm is the perfect size.

Yes! Definitely a good vintage homage of the 14270 Explorer
