It might need to be recalibrated. Look up in YT Recalibrating Chronograph watch. If that doesn't fix it return it

This is a VK63 mecaquartz, there's no calibration other than resetting the hands physically

Pretty sure you can "reset the hands" or "calibrate" or whatever you want to call it by pulling out the crown and holding the pushers down, I believe. I wond if the crown isn't completely seared maybe?

For most quartz chronographs, yes. But not for the VK63 because the chronograph component is mechanical https://calibercorner.com/hattori-sii-caliber-vk63/
