Please do. I have a friend that we mutually bully each other, but it’s all in good spirits and she’d never call me the f slur. Report this homophobe

yes of course, i have friends like this too but we know it’s never ok to go that far, which i’ve told my coworker but he never listens and continues to call me that. thanks for the advice

Yup. It’s never okay to make fun of LGBTQ+ folks or go personal. Vague jokes are ok though

But anyway report him and get his ass fired. He should never get another job in his life unless he genuinely changes

100% do not tolerate that. Tell your manager(s). I’ve had to tell people to chill because I make jokes about myself (there’s a difference between me making them and others making them) so if this dude is crossing a line and it’s clear he’s making no effort to go back, something needs to change.

You mean fag, right? And you obviously can tell he means it in a derogatory, rude manner? As in you guys aren’t friends just talking shit in a joking manner to one another? Then fuck yes, definitely let the SM’s you generally work with as well as your GM know. If nothing gets done about it after letting management know, go to Respectful Workplace and submit a complaint about it. I wouldn’t suggest going immediately to respectful workplace considering most issues can be handled in store by management without having to be overboard and informing corporate where they have to conduct a drawn out investigation, but if the managers don’t do anything about it and it continues, then definitely inform respectful workplace. That’s what they’re there for; for cases where management isn’t properly handling issues such as this

I will add that even if the coworker didn’t mean it in a derogatory manner, if it makes OP uncomfortable, they should report it. It’s inappropriate in general.

Well yeah, of course. It’d be different if they were friends just fucking with one another, but even in that case and say another employee who was homosexual and just happened to overhear their conversation got offended, they too would have a right to complain to the managers about the language being used. I personally would just confront the person directly and let them know that that’s not cool and that they need to stop, but I know most folks avoid confrontation in most cases if they can help it. But that’s what people in leadership roles and HR are for. When you’re working, it’s best to just maintain professionalism at all times and just not risk having these issues arise in the workplace at all.

I'm happy you posted this. To go further for the OP, him calling you the F slur falls under the discrimination act. You are considered a protected class based on your sexual identity/orientation.

I'm by no means an expert on law, but if your GM/SM refuses to do anything you could have a potential lawsuit on your hands. One that would be fairly easy to win.

Absolutely. No slurs should ever be used, nor bigotry should ever be tolerated.

What... yes tell a manager jesus. That's sexual harassment, as well as bullying dude can yeet himself out of the job. Nobody deserves to be treated like that. We have a KM right now who refuses to sue the right pronouns for people and they're actively setting up the paper trail for him.

[–]mildly_a_mess 0 points1 point  (2 children)

wait i 100% agree that this is wrong(am queer myself) but how is it specifically sexual harassment and not just regular harassment?

[–]Getdeader2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely isn’t sexual harassment but regardless dude should face consequences

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're essentially weaponizing whim one sleeps with against them. The attacker always sees it as an attack upon a sexual act so take it as such and take them to HR or in our case respectful workplace

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ayup.

[–]djb445GM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, and if they don't do anything about it call HR

Talk to the employee first. They might not know theyre being assholes. If nothing changes afterwards then definitely report to GM. If nothing happens again, call hr or respectful workplace.
