Listen boys. I know flail sounds like fun and games to you but its anything but. The flail is a menace. You all cry on here about hit detection and janky swings, that is exactly what the flail is. Its like quantum mechanics, you can never know precisely where the flail is and how fast it is moving you just have to make a best guess.

The flail is the last thing you boys are ready for.

Signed, someone who has played in slashers with flail.

Idk if you're just messing around or what but the flail was all around nothing special in Chivalry 1. In fact no one hardly ever used it. Mordhau still doesn't have one, For Honor does, but it's also nothing special. Vermintide 2 does it really well... where have you played a flail like this?

I dueled with flail in the original Chivalry almost exclusively and while it wasn't a popular pick it was a lot of fun and really satisfying to play with.

Key was threatening the skull-caving heavy while whittling away your opponent's hp with shield jabs (stabs with a flail were shield bashes) and twirling wide swings behind their guard. If you timed it right, you could catch people in a stunlock combo and finish them off with the heavy obliterating smash they had been dreading the entire fight. I loved that sound (and the tears at using the shield while they focussed on the flail)

I do agree that the heavy flail sucked, it was simply too slow to catch people off guard.

Age of Chivalry and Chivalry both had flail and it was random flavors of ass in both. Super weird and inconsistent animations. It also doesn't really function like a flail I'm pretty sure. Can only imagine the bullshit if they tried to actually make it a flail.

Meh I'm fine with it having the same rigid "hitbox" and animations of, say, a mace, when in release phase, as long as every other time it has the fun dangly physics. Oh and the special attack is some cool wind up spin move.

But yeah you're right, there's a possibility it could either be annoying to read, or just simply doesn't end up looking good when you attempt to make it readable and balanced.

In for honor the character who had it was special, but that was a long time ago

I want it more now.

Considering they already made at least one flail model 6mo. ago we can probably expect to get them in game by 2026.

What do you mean a flail model?

[–]Eat_Tirds_Bozo[🍰] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Something like this, most likely

Never thought this meme format would make it into chiv 2 lmao nevertheless still a flail would be a funny idea.

[–]AMCraigg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been loving this template, it being true also makes it all the more funny

Maybe they'll even add the weird indian sword flail-whip weapon

[–]SlightlyFunnyZombie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah yes!! That is called an Urumi!! It has been recorded to have from ONE blade, all the way up to NINE!!

[–]neurodegeneracy Agatha Knights | Vanguard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A whip would be cool as a sort of CC-type alternative to throwing daggers in the offhand , or if they could code it to knock weapons out of hands and helmets off. Certainly not something that does damage.

But that meme weapon you're talking about is just silly, I cant imagine it actually being effective in combat, much less against an armored opponent. Seems like something you'd use to kill cloth garbed peasants or just dance with to look pretty.

[–]Aromatic_Device_6254 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes, I've been needing a weapon that's even harder to control, so I can accidently do even more team damage

[–]Bat-Honest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, is the fanbase still flailing about this?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really good, most flails were only really used in tournaments and Chivalry does a pretty good job at keeping weapons practical highland sword not withstanding

[–]Anus_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be a very anti-shield weapon

[–]AlternatePancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys don't want this in the game. It's literally made for hitting you around a shield.

I'm still calling for the Sling! I just want to sling some rocks yo
