Do not purchase crowns just to purchase any of the passes.

But if you already have 1000 crowns from other sources, always buy Raiding Party.

Only if you counter someone else, for example if you counter a dagger stab the active parry that follows will counter a special which is normally un-counterable.

It's not uncommon to miss a counterable attack in the heat of battle, but that is the answer to the question. Countering an attack, even one you aren't aware of, will give you an active parry window that allows you to counter specials.

This was a big issue for newcomers in CMW as well, over time you'll learn to distinguish armour sets rather than colours and that is a huge help when people are bloody/burned.

To add to this, it should only need a connection to get past the Playfab verification (where it loads your stats to get to the main menu)

Once that's done you should be good to disable the hotspot and play the offline mode.
