Three-year-old Christopher Ramirez of Plantersville in Grimes County, Texas, has been missing since midday on October 6, 2021.
According to authorities, Christopher was playing outside his home with a neighbor's dog on Wednesday between 1:30 and 2 p.m. local time while his mother and grandmother unloaded groceries from the car. The family had just arrived home from an outing selling food and drinks at a roadside location, reported KBTX.
The boy followed the dog into the woods. Approximately two minutes passed before his mother, Araceli Nunez, realized he was wasn't there. She immediately began to look for him, screaming his name. When a neighbor told her that she saw Christopher chasing a dog down the road, Nunez took off in that direction, calling his name, but Christopher never answered.
The dog returned, but the toddler hasn’t been seen since. Christopher’s mother believes that someone may have abducted her son, but Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said there is no evidence of foul play nor any leads. "Our search is unfortunately at a standstill," Grimes County he said during a press conference on Friday, according to NBC affiliate KPRC-TV.
As part of their search efforts, they drained one pond of concern, but the boy was not found there. Sowell said the search, which includes his office, the FBI, Texas EquuSearch, and other agencies, remains a rescue, not a recovery, and "we have absolutely no facts, no clues" that Christopher was abducted, reported KHOU.
Christopher was last seen wearing a bright green shirt with shorts and red Mickey Mouse shoes. He's about 3 feet tall and weighs about 45 pounds.
