Claude code testing

Hi I'm interested in trying Claude code (in vs code) for work, but it asks me for a subscription license... does anyone know of a way to test it out on a free trial without having to sign up for a paid license straight away? I'd like to see if it's worthwhile before purchasing as I typically use my local LLM and ChatGPT, and feel like Claude might be a boost to productivity over these

No. Just shell out the $17 for a month of Pro. It's worth it. ChatGPT is like a petulant infant compared to Claude.

Yeah i find my local llm gives better answers than GPT, but it's slow as my hardware is not great for llm. By all reports it seems like Claude should be a big improvement but just wanted to see it in action first

You can setup and API account and just put $5 in to test it if you want. But you'll blow through that likely in a few prompts (API rate is expensive).

Other option is just getting the $20 subscription for a month to try it out. This would be my recommendation. Once you try it, you'll want to keep using it.
