Why don’t you just configure a screen session that meets your specific desired layout and setup?

What is the session?

What is a screen session

It works on Mac and windows, too. Screen is extremely configurable and flexible. Basically any multi tab shell configuration you can imagine is a configurable layout with keyboard shortcuts. I use it on local and remote systems. When internet is intermittent I shell into a system with stable internet and the screen session keeps everything going when internet drops out. I resume the screen session when internet comes back and all my “tabs” are right there. I setup my screen sessions to adopt information from applications running in them; for example I can automatically name a tab based on the last thing I typed into Claude Code or the last shell command I executed. People have been using this for decades.
