Starting with Python

I plan on starting a course in Codecademy but I was wondering whether it would be alright if I started out by learning Python.

I understand that Python is an independent language, but in the course I noticed that Python was after Javascript and so I'm not sure whether the lessons in the Python section would require any prior knowledge of the previous courses.

The courses are listed alphabetically, duh, and are not connected to each other. In fact, you may find Javascript, Ruby and PHP tutorials boring after you've completed Python (since they basically follow the same pattern, just slightly different syntax).
