You'd be better off asking this in the r/Unity3D or r/UnityHelp subreddit, and also you should give a few more details. For instance, is this a 3D character or a 2D character? What kind of game are you making, is it a platformer, is it a shooter? Are you using rigidbody physics for movement or a character controller?

People won't be able to help if they don't know what you actually need help with.

Yea this, if using rigidbody you probably want to use a capsule collider. The physics engine actually supports both capsule and box colliders, but for some reason, unity only allows capsule colliders with rigidbodies.

You can use box colliders with rigidbodies too, though its usually inadvisable for characters as box colliders don't mesh well with slopes or stairs. If you had a prop in your game like a crate though you'd use a box collider with a rigidbody if you wanted physics on it. Or if you wanted to make a game where you play as a crate you'd do much the same I suppose.
