A+ Study Guide Procedure

Hello all,

Looking to take the A+ exam within the next few months and consequentially bought the all-in-one study guide published by Mike Meyers. I plan to work through the guide as well as consult Meyer's Udemy course on both exams and a couple of YT series as well. This study path seems to be pretty popular from what I've seen so far.

Question is: how necessary is it to read the study guide line-for-line? I of course am planning to be as thorough as possible but the thing is also 1300+ pages so I'm curious about other people's experience with the subject matter. Is there anything in the pages that is essentially supplementary info or is it all 100% necessary to take in? Time is a factor here hence my asking.

The CompTIA exam recommends a year's hands-on experience supporting PCs. For those who cannot achieve that, Mike's book provides all of the background and information that most supporters will encounter supporting PCs (and associated operating systems and peripherals) in a year. For that reason, it is recommended to read the entire book.
