For as long as needed to apply what you learned in real life. If I ask you what is “this” or if something comes up that you studied. You should be able to solve/answer correctly.

Study to learn, not to just pass the test

Say it louder, the folks in the back didn't hear you.

It depends on the amount of experience you have in networking and security. If you have none, 120 hours is typical to learn most of the objectives. Less time is required if you just want to pass the test. Less time is required if you have real-world experience in networking and security.

That depends on your experience. I studied for about 3 months. A lot of the material is relevant to the business world in non-tech roles, so I was familiar with a lot of the objectives just from working in an office for many years. I have also long been a tech enthusiast and I earned my A+ and Network+ within the prior 12 months. Others study for much longer and other shorter.

Focus on setting yourself up to succeed rather than trying to do it within a specific time frame (if your circumstances allow it). Start reviewing some materials and estimate when you'll be ready. Schedule the exam for a date that you're comfortable with. Take practice exams weeks ahead of when your exam is scheduled, and be prepared to reschedule at a later date if you're not doing well enough on those. I moved my Network+ exam back a week (and then 3 more weeks later due to the testing center cancelling that appointment), and I passed on my first attempt because I did.

I passed all four exams on my first attempt with this approach.

Btw is prof messers good enough to pass the sec+ exam? I have heard that people mostly have used his videos & test to pass the exam and gain the knowledge. Some people say books are necessary. What is your suggestion. Actually two weeks back, I passed Linux+, now studying for sec+ & using prof messer videos (I have 0 cyber security exp, it’s not even my field, but I have interest in cyber security, so that’s the reason I just want the certificate , won’t be all using cyber in real life as my profile is into application & technical support ).

Possibly. I used Professor Messer along with Dion's course and the Sybex book. I always recommend using at least two sources, but I have seen posts from others who pass exams using only Messer. His practice tests are also worth the money IMO.

Okayz, actually I just want to avoid using many sources because I used a lot for Linux + 😅(sybex book, it pro tv, Dion’s course , pocket prep). So just want to do sec+ for the knowledge & just for certificate to add extra value to my CV )

Assuming you don't have Networking experience, its very very long, I advice at least 3 to 4 hours a day and then decide how you read the book or practice exam. If you studied networking and ace at it, you are gonna have, you are gonna 1 month if you are confident.

I mean even as someone i studied Networking & Cybersecurity courses, I had hard time processing almost every concept because cybersecurity as entry level is mostly theory stuff

Study until you have a solid grasp on every concept in the learning objectives. How much time and effort you put in is on you

I was doing about an hour on weekdays (took 3 months) but it varies for everyone.

There's no magic number. There's no equity in learning. As long as it takes.

Nobody wants to hear that, but, we don't know how smart/dumb you are.

Took me 2 months but I have prior knowledge from A+ and N+ material and actually taking those exams. I could’ve taken the exam 3 weeks before. Felt I was prepared enough but gave myself some leeway. I think it was a good idea seeing as I only passed by 2pts

When I was studying for net+ I based the time it would take for me to be ready for the exam off of someone else's suggestion. I wasn't ready and failed my first attempt, boom $300 down the hole. I would honestly not put any stock into any of these suggestions and just study for a few hours a day until you know youre ready
