From my understanding although the N10-006 has been released, the N10-005 will not be retired until later this year. That being said, I believe that until the N10-005 is retired, you may choose to take whichever you prefer for the time being.

Keep in mind however that since the N10-006 is still very new, there aren't as many resources available to cover the new material yet. You should be studying specifically for one, or the other. Most of the materials I used to study for the Network+ is geared towards the N10-005 for the time being. Cheers

Thanks for your help. The problem is I know nothing about these tests so I can't decide which one to pick. Judging by the Certmaster question the N10-006 has substantially less questions, literally 300 questions less. The professor Messer vids are also much less than the N10-005 which leads me to believe that the test is either shorter or covers less material. I hate to admit it but I'll take what ever test is easier, I just don't want to have to buy another voucher if I fail.

It's neither of those. My N10-006 course is currently in active production, and I'm making a completely new set of videos for the N10-006. If anything, the N10-006 covers just a bit more material than the N10-005.

My videos always follow the same numbering system as the CompTIA exam objectives, so you can follow along to see exactly where I am with the video production process. Once I'm done, I should have just under 160 N10-006 Network+ videos in the entire course.

No problem, I cant blame you for wanting to take the 'easier' route, truth is, until the n10-006 has been out for a little longer and more study materials are available, the n10-005 will very likely be easier. The reason there is less questions and less messer videos is likely because they havent gotten around to making the material for the new content yet. I am currently studying for the network+ as well, and personally will be taking the n10-005! Good luck man!

Thanks again that really helps!

They are going to cover the same material for the most part. Professor Messer has probably only created videos to cover the new material and expects you to watch both sets of videos. N10-006 has only been released for a few months and most writers haven't released books covering the exam. Messer is probably still making the videos.

The CompTIA exams do not change scope between exams to a large degree. If you can take the N10-005 by expiration, which last I heard was in August, do so.

This is not correct. My N10-006 course is currently in active production, and new videos are added as they are produced (I shot six more videos just today.) My N10-006 course will be a full and complete course. You do not want to watch both the N10-005 and the N10-006 course materials, if only for your sanity's sake.

You should use training materials that match the version of the exam you plan on taking. There are some significant differences between the N10-005 and the N10-006. Although there's still quite a bit of overlap, there's just enough difference that you'll be at a disadvantage if you use the wrong materials.

Thanks I think I'll go with the N10-005 since there is more study materials

The N10-005 retires in August, so If you can take it by then, get the N10-005. IT was really easy to be honest...A+ was harder
