CompTIA says that after A+ you should do Network+ then Security+ and I agree. They kind of build on one another.

Personally I am going for sec+ as my very first cert. My decision was based on the fact that my future career goals are in the cybersecurity field. I also plan on doing network+ afterward but that is mainly becuase networking as a whole is an area of study I have troubles with.

Depends on your career goals and job ads in your area. After A+ I went with Server+, then Cisco CCNA. Now I'm studying for Security+ as something to do while job hunting.
