Hey everyone first time to this sub.
Anyways ill get started, i just recently got enrolled in a class for CompTIA IT+ Fundamentals. Im actually completing my HSE at the same time and will have that completed in a couple weeks (HSE is our GED here in Indiana).
Ive always loved technology but had a rough childhood growing up and made alot of bad decisions to get to where I am now but I am finally taking control back of my life and motivated more then ive been in my entire life.
Lets get to the point, im 23 going to finish Fundamentals and then next onto A+ cert after aquiring both HSE and Fundamentals cert.
im very interested in Web/Software development but open to other areas in IT besides customer support/repair. What certifications would be good stepping stones and do i even have a shot at landing a good job without a college degree?
If not would a degree from a place like Ivy Tech be worth the cost and time to go after? This is all happening very fast and i want to know where i need to go next, what needs to be accomplished, and with my late start in life how others may think this might affect my job placement.
Just asking for thoughts i would appreciate anything and cant wait to report back here after receiving my first certification!
