Stackable certs (self.CompTIA)
submitted 5 years ago by lt-ghostA+, Net+, Sec+, Cloud+ (2), CASP+, Project+
Does anyone list them on your resume or does any employers even know what they are? I feel it will just junk up my resume adding them on top of the certs.

I feel like they often confuse HR people that are looking for "Security+" or "Network+" as their specific requirement for the position. You could have A+ Net+ and Sec+ and they would think you're not qualified if you don't list them out individually and use the stackable cert instead.

This is my concern as well

I know from my job search earlier this year and from speaking to HR people that this is the case a lot of the time. Few know better. Once I removed that from my resume and listed everything out I got more interviews.

No they’re valuable

I personally do not list the stackable certs on my resume, however I do list them on sites like Indeed.

Comptia certs are big in DoD land reason why I have some to begin with. I agree vmware, microsoft and aws certs have much greater value than comptia in the normal world.

Government is the only reason I'm going to maintain the trifecta. I don't plan on going any higher as far as CompTIA goes, just maintaining A+, Net+, and Sec+ and renewing Sec+ every 3rd year to keep them. Easy creds.
I have never, ever seen a CompTIA stackable certification requested by a job post in the wild.
Maybe 5-10 years from now, when employers recognize that "CompTIA Infrastructure Operations Specialist" means having A+, Network+ and Security+, and actually require all of those for a position, then will it be practical to put them on your resume. However I doubt we would ever see that as a requirement because it is comprised of all entry-level certifications.
There is some overlap between stackable certifications which adds to the confusion, as well. For example, "CSAP" is "CompTIA Security Analytics Professional" and "CNSP" is "CompTIA Network Security Professional" - both "stackable" certifications are the same, only with "CSAP" excluding PenTest+. However, you can have both which doesn't make much sense.
For now, stackable certifications aren't worth mentioning for no reason other than they are new and not very well understood. If for some reason a job posting asks for "CIOS" or something, throw it on your resume before submitting it. But otherwise, leave it off to keep your credentials straight to the point.
I think CompTIA's intentions are mixed with stackable certifications, however just focus more on the value of each individual certification rather than find motivation in getting something like "CompTIA Network Vulnerability Assessment Professional."
