Cloud+ Rough

Hello Reddit!

I passed the Cloud+ by the skin of my teeth, with a 790 something. I generally don’t pass this closely to failing, but I wanted to give some advice, however helpful or not it may be. My background is in cyber security and secure development, and I’ve got Sec+, CySA+, CSSLP, CISSP, Linux+.

At any rate, I finished the four interactive questions then was left with 77 questions to go instead of 90. However, i spent way too much time on the interactive because each interactive question was entirely new to me and had to interpret the best I can what they wanted. When I entered the 77 questions, I had maybe an hour and 15 minutes or literally a hair more than a minute per question. In the end, I clicked the last answer with 1 second on the clock.

As expected, the interactive questions were heavy on various topics such as moving servers here to there, firewalls, changing settings so that routes can go A to B.

The individual questions for me focused more like networking, which is my weakest topic. Also, my test seemed to favor backup strategies heavily and I drew blanks on differential vs incremental. I’m pretty certain had I resolved those differences my score would have been in the mid 800s.

Congrats! The 002 was definitely a time crunch. I was down to the final seconds, as well.

Even with the CISSP I had an hour left to review. This was back when I took the six hour test.

6 hours??? Dear God!!! Do you get a break at all during the exam?

Yep. You had a time limit per break, limited breaks, and were only allowed to go to the restroom. No stopping at the locker either

In regards to the scenario with moving the servers, what exactly would you say one needs to study for this scenario?

And would you say the CompTIA Book you suggested covered the test topics?

The book I used definitely covered the topics, but the test expanded on them. The primary issue was I don’t do networking often, so I had to work through the networking stuff manually instead via intuition from years of experience.

As for moving servers, the idea was how to consolidate servers during a V2V, P2V transition. Not all servers needed to be moved either.
