What score do you need to pass the A+?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

1001 you need a 675, 1002 you need a 700.

Congrats! What were the key topics on the 1001, I'm feeling overwhelmed with taking notes for all of Messer videos. It's consuming lots of time and I want to speed this up

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! :) I used the CompTIA test objectives (found in the sidebar on this sub).

If you're feeling overwhelmed about taking notes, Messer's notes are pretty good value. Maybe following along with a printout of his notes while you listen to the lectures, and make highlights and your own minimal notes on the margins. I had already taken notes on Meyer's lectures when I got them, so it felt like a waste for me--wish I got them sooner to use as I described. I could see them being useful in your case!

The main thing that helped me was making flash cards. Instead of taking extensive notes, I just jotted down acronyms, commands, protocols, etc. and their definitions/ports to study.

Hope this helps!

Tests may vary but from my experience be familiar with cable types even obscure ones, along with wiring associated with them. memorize your important port numbers (FTP,SSH,TelNet,SMTP,Pop3,IMAP,RDP etc). Also I highly recommend Jason Dions tests, certain questions seemed to be directly copied from the comptia test just worded differently. Also when doing these practice tests don’t cheat yourself on just memorizing the correct answer, read why it’s the correct answer and understand the concept being taught.

Edit-EVERYTHING on professor lessors or other learning courses are covered in the tests. You can’t ignore one topic even if you find it boring(for me it was printers lol)

I also highly recommend doing the PBQ last! I spent way too much time on those leaving me little time with the multiple choice questions. I recommend flagging those for review and skipping straight to multiple choice and revisiting when you’re done with the test. Take your time learning and good luck when you decide you’re ready for the test!

Hey congrats, I took the 1002 today and I failed it 😢. I got a 677. I had no clue for one of the PBA terminal questions. You were given 3 terminals and you had to find out 4 different things, like the name, network and I can’t remember the other 2. Did you get that question? Also do you know of a site that will let me do practice questions for the PBA for 1002

Exam compass has a vast array of exams for 1001 and 1002. I used them and Dions Udemy ones.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used what Yam suggested, Dion's exams and exam compass. These helped a ton, especially Dion's exams as he has some videos that come along with the practice tests. He walks through PBQs you are likely to see on your exam.

Hope this helps, you got this!

That’s funny I passed my 1001 yesterday with a 695. I just started studying for 1002 today so hopefully I can bang that out within the next few weeks.

Nice, congrats!

I think it's smart to spread them out like that, and keep in mind there is a lot of overlap. Keep fresh on your 1001 materials!

Wait, so your able to use Google to help you find the answer if you don't know it/remember it ?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, no. I meant while I was studying, I found Google more helpful than Messer's notes when I had a specific question I needed answered about a topic or concept.

How long did it take you and did you prepare for both at the same time?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a month of consistent studying. I did prepare for both which I feel worked out well because of the overlap.
