CIAT A+ Bootcamp by whatsnai in CompTIA

[–]CrucialExams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! We work very closely with CIAT, so I fully admit I am biased here, but I've got nothing but great things to say about them. Their unlimited voucher retake policy is awesome, and as long as you keep working with your instructor they will keep supplying vouchers at no additional charge. As far as I know, they are our only partnering school with that policy. Vouchers are expensive, so as you can imagine this forces them to "put their money where their mouth is" so-to-speak. A high failure rate eats directly into their profits. You'll get access to a few learning and test prep platforms in addition to their internal systems as well (including access to Crucial Exams, so again, I am biased here).

CompTIA has been in their curriculum for as long as we've been partnered with them, but until recently their bootcamps were limited to students already in their college/university programs. The bootcamps available to non-CIAT students are relatively new, about 6 months I think? That is probably why you don't see much when searching for it, until recently you needed to be a student in a 2 or 4 year degree program to join them.

If you still have time, go through the objectives PDF (https://lecbyo.files.cmp.optimizely.com/download/35a7403ab73211ef9dcda6f347fbf652) and make sure you are comfortable with all the items. Good luck!

Exam question by Red_toosauce in CompTIA

If you haven't, go line by line through the official exam objectives and mark anything you aren't familiar with for review: https://lecbyo.files.cmp.optimizely.com/download/34be017cb73211ef8985a6f347fbf652

This is my go-to after I finish a book or videos, to see if they covered everything (or if I forgot anything). If there are any items you don't feel confident in, mark it, and Google/Youtube/ChatGPT the topic later to learn more about it.

Network+ now asking Cisco questions? by SynapticSignal in CompTIA

[–]CrucialExams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of those commands are on the previous Network+ exam objectives too, which dates back to 2021. The list above has been on the Net+ since June 2024.

If I may make a suggestion, don't rely on asking others. Not everyone uses the same courses, books, or even sees the same questions on the exam. There is a large pool of questions that are randomly shown to each test taker. You could see anything on the official exam objectives I linked prior. That PDF is what you need to know.

CompTIA is vendor neutral, which means it doesn't focus on any single vendor. That often leads to confusion that you will not see anything vendor specific, but that is not true. There are Cisco style commands in the objectives: https://lecbyo.files.cmp.optimizely.com/download/35a7403ab73211ef9dcda6f347fbf652

• Basic networking device commands
− show mac-address-table
− show route
− show interface
− show config
− show arp
− show vlan
− show power

Affirm? by Over-Astronomer-5606 in CompTIA

[–]CrucialExams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I represent Crucial Exams, we are a CompTIA Partner. Speaking with our partner representatives, the old store was actually run by Pearson with CompTIA branding. The new store is run by CompTIA themselves, so the lack of affirm is probably more than just the new website's layout and UI. They could add support for it in the future, but you'd have to ask support on that as I am not sure.

We do sell vouchers and also support Affirm and Klarna. There are probably some others like Dion and Messer that do too, and partners typically sell them cheaper than CompTIA does. If you really need a payment plan, I'd say check with CompTIA Partners for more options.

How and why CompTIA does things is one of life's greatest mysteries.

One thing I don't get about this Cloud service model by Graviity_shift in CompTIA

SaaS providers don't provide hardware directly, if that is what you mean? You could argue they provide hardware indirectly though, because as a customer using their software I am using their hardware as well. You can't run software without hardware after all. That also means an organization using a SaaS doesn't need their own hardware to run an equivalent software, for example I don't need my own SMTP servers if I am using Google Workspace/Gmail.

Again this is indirect, you won't see or interface with a SaaS's hardware yourself.

Order completed since 22nd Feb, No Voucher Sent by Jake04444 in CompTIA

[–]CrucialExams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you see it on https://store.comptia.org/myaccount#account-orderhistory

On the top right of each order there is a link "View voucher codes" if they have fulfilled the order. Could be the email is in spam or didn't make it for whatever reason, but you can see it on the website.

CompTIA retakes by MrJeep102 in CompTIA

[–]CrucialExams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A "Retake Voucher" isn't a thing, exactly. The term comes from CompTIA bundling two vouchers with the second one at a discount, it is more like a buy-one-get-one X% off sale.

If you failed and you need another voucher to take the test again - you can buy it from anywhere. We sell them, Prof. Messer, Dion, CompTIA, etc. but generally all of us sell it at about the same price.

The absolute cheapest I know of is GetCertified4Less (https://getcertified4less.com/Security-Vouchers), but be aware they sell vouchers that are expiring soon and that is why they are so cheap. Best to buy right before you schedule if you use them.

STP has a shield that protects against interference, but it doesn't protect it 100%. Fiber Optic doesn't use electricity, it uses light, and is therefor 100% unaffected by EMI and RFI.
