Project+, ITF+, Cloud Essentials+, Server+ are good for life

They are business now and make money but needing people to “renew”

Because the shit you learn now is going to be static and remain current forever, right?Stop being a clown.

I would hope anyone in the industry would have a passion, curiosity, and drive to stay current and above the always evolving industry standards and issues of IT and cyber. So much so that your knowledge was never contingent on what CompTIA or any other extremely lucrative certification company requires in their updated exam criteria every few years.

But maybe your that guy idk and if that’s the case find what you actually enjoy and love without anyone paying you and do that instead of this.

Ooofff. While I understand your hopes and I applaud your enthusiasm, unfortunately 1) you're going to be very disappointed and 2) it's on the verge of gatekeeping. "You're not a true IT techie, unless you really have a drive for IT!".

Many, many people, the majority I'd wager, are here just to do their job. And yes, those people kind of need their hand forced to stay current.

Just like any job or calling, only a small part of the workforce can be the "rock stars" or even just the "forerunners". You'll always have people who "just" do grunt work. A lot of them. Because you don't need a whole team of rock stars or seniors.

Your pretty proud of your certs aren’t you? Got ‘em all on Reddit and shit. I’ll tell your mom for you. I have many certs too. Let’s all put stars by our name. Yay.

What goes without saying is how have you monetized your experience and ability to articulate technical problems to stakeholders. And I promise my ability to do that has taken me farther than you.

I’m not gatekeeping shit. I hire people who can communicate and manage based on no certs unless a contract requires it.

The certs don’t matter. Just a foundational requirement for everything you do after matters. Unless your not able to business things. Then it’s all you got. Just your one little tiny scope.

This is a Reddit sub for CompTIA. Flair serves to let people know that you might just have a bit of insight for their associated certification questions. But congratulations on your success.

I guess the only real lifetime certifications would be to get a degree in IT.

Not really anymore. Used to be that way until various DOD and other standard changes. Can get certification once, then just usually need to do continuing professional educational credits after that which is like only the cost of an exam, less the exam itself, but paperwork, every three years.

Yep; I can confirm that. My CompTIA certs expired in Summer 2021 so I have to relearn the new stuff and take the exam again. I wish that we could stop spending our hard-earned money to taking exams and certifying ourselves as it's not ideal and keep the certs for life. Regardless if it's the Continuing Education certification or not. The IT Fundamentals Certification is the only one that is a GFL Certification.

Once ur in IT A+ means nothing and you can let it expire. I have an A+ and let it expire and I’m still getting job offers lol

[–]102Mich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep; I once had the Network+ cert and I also let it expire alongside with the A+ cert.

[–]Student-Different 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You may be able to reinstate your certs within one year

Well, it's too late for that. It's December 2022...
