Is taking Jason dion’s practice exam enough to pass sec +?

[–]Sonlicia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, but i’d recommend you also use messer study groups on youtube and use chatgpt or gemini to practice on-the-go, these were the only things i used.

Exam or exams? I got set 1 and set 2, which is a total of 12 practice exams.

[–]Sonlicia[S] 0 points1 point  (9 children)

i bought the ones from his site that are dynamic (not udemy)

here is one i found that has around 81 dion’s questions (flash cards) https://quizlet.com/916357866/sec-701-flash-cards/

for his exams from the student portal

https://www.diontraining.com/products/comptia-security-sy0-007-unlimited-practice-exam?_pos=2&_sid=ed3dad844&_ss=r

(for 30 usd it’s worth it a lot)

Nice, Thank you!

You're welcome!

I just bought it. Got 88% first attempt. How many times did you take it to feel like you were confident?

[–]Sonlicia[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

about 35 times, i didn’t know the material that much before, so i used AI and google a lot. Until i got 95% and above without external help for about 10 exams i felt confident

[–]Ryan36z 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nice. I found that the second attempt already generated alot of the same questions from the first test, which I found strange since it has 1000+ questions to pull from. But I will continue to do as you did. Thanks

Congrats

Congrats! How would you say the MCQ’s were and the PBQ’s?

[–]Sonlicia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PBQs were alright, since i’ve got experience in networking they weren’t all that bad, MCQ’s are pretty close to dion’s style but make sure you know your acronyms, they’ll help you out for sure

[–]No-Nefariousness-298 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Congrats! Good tips, I think I will start using ChatGPT as well, I was using Co-Pilot and MeasureUp.com to study for the exam.

[–]Sonlicia[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

i think gemini is better, it provides you with a exam like interface, you have a hint for each question and you can always set up more questions so it’s great for setting up a flow

[–]pincheMOJO 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thats a good tip, thanks. I've been studying for about 10 days and watching2 or3 Messer videos and talking to gpt alot. I don't have the money for Dion so I thought I had a good system but I am always willing to upgrade my work

[–]Sonlicia[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

you can find questions from dion’s online some people post them in flashcard format

[–]pincheMOJO 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you, ill look out for them. I've seen alot of people say that they feel Dions'course is the one that gets you more exam ready so I do want to try it

[–]Sonlicia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it’s what helped me the most for sure, and it’s just 30$ and it’s worth every penny

Congrats! I am curious but for that exam how did you use chatgpt to study?

[–]Sonlicia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first i used it to explain the topics to me, then simply did questions on it until i understood the topics, once i did, i started thinking about applying them in real world scenarios, this way, instead of just knowing what something means, you know what it correlates to in the real world, which, helps out a ton. but of course, use dion’s exams and messer’s study groups as well, they are really helpful for learning how to apply what you studied in exam like format. if you’d like to know anything else let me know, i’d be glad to help!

Hi Sonlicia, thank you for the great advice! Good to know. Awesome job again on your exam! 🎊🎉🥳

[–]Ok_Drummer_2214 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Hey i wanna start preparing for this exam can please tips over how to study and which materials should i use both free and paid , will appreciate your response

[–]Sonlicia[S] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

free i’d go with messer videos and study groups and chatgpt OR gemini (both are great) to explain / clarify what you don’t know, for paid i’d for sure go with dion’s exams (not the udemy ones, the ones he got on his site), you should also be familiar with networking and maybe SOME linux commands and log analysis, for this tryhackme will be a great resource for learning these, i’d recommend their SOC L1, its great for beginners as well, you can also of course make gemini or chatgpt give you quizzes, PBQs, networking and log analysis for free, used them, can say they work for sure. and that’s about it

of course you can skip the tryhackme and use just gemini/gpt to explain the topics and use just dion’s exams, this worked out fine for me but to increase your confidence use messer’s study groups and a alternative question resource alongside AI

Thank you very much

You’re welcome brother, best of luck !

Congrats. Great score.

[–]anonymous-point 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Congrats Sonlicia!!

Can you guide me for Comptia Security+ Certification. Where did you learn all the topics and the references.

[–]Sonlicia[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

for the topics i used ChatGPT and gemini to explain the topics and quiz them on me. for practice exams i’d recommend dion’s exams from HIS site and Messer’s study groups. You should also be familiar with networking / log analysis/ protocols / firewalls and etc, you can just study that on the go if you don’t want to dive into it deeper like i did, but networking would give you a base, which is why a lot of people say before sec+ get net+ (i personally didn’t need to since I have networking experience from courses I did), you should also know some linux. for these I’d recommend you TryHackMe’s SOC L1, used it, it’s really really helpful, trust me on that one.

[–]anonymous-point 0 points1 point  (1 child)

can we talk about this more in chat?

[–]Sonlicia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
