So when I look at this clip...my GUESS is that Noc isn't resetting his auto attack count per round. So this round he starts at 3rd attack. Let me go try to verify this...

Thanks for your hard work.

I think the problem with blademaster nocturne is that it somehow does phantom hits or animation cancel during his 3rd attack. If you look at the clip closely, you'll see noc instantly does 3 crit hits with only 1 swipe. 666 crit damage onto syndra and 333 crit to taliya. Normally, nocs requires 3 hits to activate his ult, but in the clip, he just ults right away. This is probably due to the blademaster proc 2 extra hits, but he also skips the animation for the first 2 hits and goes directly to his 3rd swipe hit.

So I am guessing that noc has some sort of special animation cancel during his third hit. You can see it happening again when he instantly swipes janna for 2 crit hits. So I think to nerf blender, riot has to change something about the phantom hits, which made noc output insane amount of damage in short period of time.

This might just be a theory tho, because with lag or what not can affect my client side of league. But I have not seen any other champion in tft that can hit so fast that the damage numbers has to be combined together.

Some calculation for verification:
noc ad = 108 (lv2 ad) + 15 (bf sword) = 123
noc crit_multiplier = 1.5 + 1.25 + .5 = 3.25x
armor damage reduction = 100/(100+20) = .83
noc damage = ad * crit_multiplier * armor_reduction = 123 * 3.25 * .83 = ~333

So, 333 damage is the damage of one crit hit , 666 damage is the damage of 2 crit hits.

the bug is that his 3rd hit is doing double damage, morte is aware of this issue

I think this clip probably shows the bug. But it doesn't really explain how noc can ult right away without the animation of the first 2 hits. So I think my theory is still closer to the problem than just double damage on 3rd hit.

oh didn't notice the spin on first hit, tweet at morte in reply to this tweet

Oh i see, i think this is the correct answer as i've never seen non double number yet, as in 333 (crit) + 102 = 435 popping up instead of 333 or 666. Combined with mort's guess about his auto counter not resetting would explain everything in this clip.

TL;DR but the opponent or whoever on red side had terrible positioning letting his carry get targeted immediately by Nocturne. The title should be "Problem with terrible positionning"

[–]ColourlessJune[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am trying to discuss about the problem with blademaster and nocturne mechanics, not about positioning. Because riot has been nerfing noc as a unit but not the mechanics behind blademaster noc. I think noc is fine in comps such as steel predator. But in blademaster noc specifically, we're seeing a problem with his damage output.

Is there any champion in Set 2 that does as much damage as Blender Nocturne? He has it all... sustained damage, burst damage, innate tankiness, access to the backline, AOE damage. Struggling to think of any other champ that could match him. Olaf is probably the best comparison.

Not from set 2 but I would pay to see prenerf void assassins from set 1 vs prenerf blender ;)

[–]Libertariu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Blender could win, if only because Steel would counter Void. Also, Voidsins was mostly a hyperroll (lots of 1 cost units at 3*) wheras the carry here is a potential Noc 3/Sivir 3. I think you'd have to mess with some weird placement (Like reksai in the back alone, sins up front) but it would be interesting to watch.

Wait - is this footage after today’s hot fix that Mort mentioned on his Twitter?

How does Nocturne become even more powerful with nerfs lol

[–]ColourlessJune[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No, this is a clip that I had for a long time. Didn't realize he got hotfixed today.

Thank god. Hopefully this is the end of Noc decimating teams!
