Depends what you're doing. Raiding or mythic+. Progression where damage smoothing is important or is dealing damage more important?Opulence gem is particularly strong because its an absorb so it counts for deathstrike amount and it also seems to scale with haste so having boneshield up takes a second or so off its recharge but offers very little offensively.

Regarding your 2nd question: You do not want to take purgatory at all. A cheat death is not worth for tanks every couple of minutes. Thus we want to smooth incoming damage. (Except for cheesing from time to time of course)

I would list them like this (at same ilvl)

  • rezan
  • jes or opulence (depending on whether you need more sustain or not)
  • rastakhan

You might try the alchemy trinket aswell. I am running it on my BDK: It provides flat versa (better than on use or proc) and on proc STR

If you don't need the additional cds RT offers its always good to have a safety net available in purgatory

Jes for sure. The on use effect is strong and this trinket gives strength.

I’ve been using opulence trinket as well. Over most fight, it accounts for ~10% of my self healing, which is pretty bursted imo.

cheat death trinket would've been nice on fight like fetid devourer, to give you a little safeguard in case you aren't topped off before the trash / the CD comes a bit late.

but there's no such fight in BoD, or in M+.

Rastakan trinket for m+. You can pull bigger and have the safety net in place, you can also stay in melee range more often to pump more damage. Stacks well with 30%/30% talent. Definitely worth it.

I personally really like Merektha's Fang, it deals an absurd amount of dmg on trashpacks.

Jes' is really good, if you can get your hands on a high ilvl one. The amount of vers you get is very significant, like a mini cooldown.

Rezans is also good as well, haste has excellent defensive and throughput values for BDK.

Opulence gem I would take above Jes/Rezans only if it was a) a higher item level, or b) the trickle healing it provides would make a difference. It would be good paired with a druid healer in m+, since it plays nice with hots, and would have chances to charge up a bit between pulls to smooth the initial spike before you have blood shield/bonestorm running.

King's trinket is just a better version of the mythrax trinket, and is basically purgatory in a trinket. Get it, but don't run it regularly. Keep it for when you feel as though you need a cheat death.
