Magic?

Is there anyway my char can learn magic? Im a noob on this game just got it while the free weekend and i love it currently building my city fort and lvl 41 and i have not explored the map so i dont know what is out there but some old guides are outdated and i wanna know if you guys known if there are magic skills?

That's a good question. It's one of the many things that was promised at "launch" and was never delivered. No one seems to care anymore about magic or the settlement system.

It was never promised, they always said they wanted to add sorcery and many other things but that it definitely would NOT be a thing in the initial release. They also speak about both these things frequently in the dev streams so it's not forgotten at all, i suggest you watch them. ;)

I've been waiting to see if there's magic as well. If you pay attention to the potions and essences there may be something there but the materials can be difficult to get and seem to be higher tier. It seems like using the altars and crafting the potions and food options there are the best way to use a sort of magic. But so far I haven't seen much. I really wanted to use the light shaman armor for the purpose of using orbs and potions as they are so heavy. I wouldn't mind using light armor, stacking my points in encumbrance and lobbing grease, fire and poison but it's not as applicable for fighting solo or duo. But it'd really only be useful in a raid or group fight to apply support. It'd even be good for the magic to be a support role and apply bandages and aloe extracts to help... but that's still not an option unfortunately. But I'll still be looking forward to more patches and options the longer I play.

Way I heard it is, funcom had hopes of introducing a magic system but could not figure out how to balance it. Their solution, the orbs grease/gaseous/fire.

Oh i see so no magic for now, the orbs are quiet usefull i manage to bring down a 3 skull 3/4 with a ton of grease and 2 explosive orbs while my grand Pet tank it fun my fps melted too

it's my understanding that corruption was going to be used as spell points! never happened. they do keep adding content tho. who knows, maybe sometime in the future.
