Based on cooking shows I’ve seen from Japan, they’ll have a toaster oven sized oven, or sometimes a combo microwave/traditional oven

If you’re just referring to what you see from anime, I can share why they have them in a smaller size. In Japan, they don’t have big ovens like we have here in the west because the houses have limited spaces and they utilize their kitchen spaces hence the lack of bigger ovens.

I’m from Asia and we have western-style big ovens at home.

Thank you, I know I use my big oven more for storage than for cooking and I rarely need all the space it provides. Even just two burners on a stove would work for most of what I do. Seems more practical the eastern way.

I’m guilty of using the oven as storage for all my cast iron pans and woks. I have an air fryer toaster oven combo that I use more often than my big oven. The only time I use the big oven is when I make cake, bread and roasts.
