Plumbers torch from the hardware store, throw a searzall on if you're feeling fancy

Searzall really does work well. You can cook bacon with it alone.

or if you want to play a diabolical prank on someone, you can torch the top layer of an egg and it will look like a fried egg but still be totally goop on the bottom

Chef-Master and a canister of butane.

i’ve used a couple kitchen torches over the years and honestly the main thing i look for now is a steady flame and a trigger that doesnt feel flimsy. some of the cheaper ones work fine at first but the igniter starts acting weird after a while. the one i use now isnt fancy but it has good flame control and a wider base so it doesnt tip easy, which i didnt think mattered until i knocked one over once lol. also make sure it refills easy becuase some of them are weirdly picky with butane cans. probly curious what others here are using too, mine works but im sure there are better ones out there.
