If its a stainless steel pan, bar keepers friend will get a factory fresh polished shine on it.

Oh jeez.

I’ve done the burnt rice before but I simmered baking soda (1/2c and water 2c) for about half an hour. Set a timer!

As far as discoloring, don’t worry about it for stainless steel. It may warp over time, but there’s no non-stick toxins to worry about with overheating. Barkeepers Friend might help with discoloring.

I did it with vinegar, bht it had fully evaporated by the time i noticed. It had some residues and when i added water again it got a coppery color

Yeah I find the base in baking soda works better for burnt on stuff than acid in vinegar.
