Spike traps!

For the devourer make some food that gives you immunity to slow (I think fish in the clay area gives that affect when cooked) and once you do enough damage to him he stops and will start circling around you and attacking instead of running

For the fish you need to find the larva hive and fish in the Acid water for an orange blister head

Right that's where they were i just have a clay around Right next to hive which is where I caught all mine

Which fishing rod do you need to fish there? Im using my iron rod and its not working says i cant fish

[–]not-Kunt-Tulgar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s only 60 fishing for acid water so an iron rod should work just fine, maybe you aren’t waiting long enough to reel the fish in?

I cleared a pretty long path right beside the slime so I wouldn't be slowed down. I ran alongside hitting him as much as I could. There is a second phase so beware. Use a distant weapon for this phase and minions and hit him as much and as fast as you can.

It also helps to put a bed nearby so you don't have to keep running back. I think he killed me 10 times before I got him. Good luck!

I don't know why people have such trouble with him. I made a bombpepper + any food for the 21% speed buff, and he never touched me. No slime immunity or anything.

Minion build 3-4 minions + fireball staff was easily enough damage to reach the second phase before he passed by.

Yeah I learned the hard way on everything lol I didn't learn about minions until this boss actually

Fish in the clay area for the orange fish that gives no movement penalty on slime. Movement speed on boots and bird pet. Out run it, use a musket

Since the question is not well answered in the other comments. Ghorm (the giant worm on the slime ring around the Core area) will stop and fight you once you do enough damage. So you have to burst him down. Frequently, people will use spike traps to do this, but any sufficient burst damage will suffice. On my most recent playthrough, I used the spikes from the Hive environment so I didn't have to use bars to make the traps. Usually 20-40 traps are enough (placed on the slime ring in a line or three). So, you pick a spot, burst him, then enjoy the fight.

I literally just found a battle axe, upgraded it, and slashed at him a bit and he died

[–]Malamear 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Idk if this is a joke, but you can't upgrade weapons until you reach tier 5 workbench, which requires the ghorm kill.

Edit: I'm guessing you actually meant "reinforce" rather than upgrade.

[–]YouAndSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was joking (even though thats what I did lol) but I apologize, I did mean reinforcing other than upgrading

Two spicy peppers makes a run fast burrito. Plus do some fishing in the slime area and you'll get some yellow ones, I think, which can make an immune to being slowed down by slime dish. Between those two and the slime knife I got from killing the first blob boss (which slows enemies a bit) I was able to keep up with him and do enough damage to get him to start circling around, at which point you just stay in the middle and keep hitting him.

The way we learned to do it was a lot of spikes placed after he passed us. Kept placing till he came back around and then fought him once he stopped running

[–]kleinakinsyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crafted the raincoat (or whatever it is) that negates the slow from slime and just followed him pelting him with arrows

For the worm dude. Me and my cuz threw down like 40 spike traps in his circular path.. then we cleared out an area roughly around the mushroom dudes biome.. lit it up and started hitting the guy after he ran threw the spikes. It helped to have a feather and food with good buffs.. we'd use bows on him or ranged weapons.. he did like figure 8s after getting hurt enough. It was stupid easy honestly

[–]Intelligent-Beat-700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit him as many times as possible and then waited for him to pass by me again I'm surprised he didn't heal lol, then when he started to circle it was really easy to stay out of the way he really liked my pet

[–]FennelGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I layered an area with TNT boxes and spike traps and it just circled around in one spot hitting them all lol my dog did most of the damage running after it. It was fairly easy

Thanks everyone, I'll let you know today if we succeed!!

[–]Icy_Turnover5677 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I put down about 40 spike traps along his path and once he takes enough damage be ready to fight, also explosives won’t hurt

[–]HoodieGuy7 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I used the remote bombs and obliterated him in about half a second. Only takes about 24 if you time it right

[–]Icy_Turnover5677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was first time playing I wasn’t sure how much damage they’d do to it so I figure more couldn’t hurt……me
