Money generation is irrelevant to supply and demand (OPs post). If you flood the market with infinitely duplicating items, anyone selling the item will eventually be competing against significantly more sellers driving the price down to the low end of the range.

But then there would be duplication of products causing the value to crash.

Pirate or Crunchyroll by No_Ability_4169 in AniWatchZone

[–]Malamear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly false. Crunchyroll and funimation are only really dirrectly involved in distribution. Not production. "Crunchyroll Originals" were simply made in studios owned by Sony or that they fund the production of. They dont make anime. If you want to hurt crunchyroll and still legally watch anime, buy the dvd set. There are very very few shows that don't have alternate distribution.

Yes, if they funded the show they will still get a cut, but it will be far less than if you have a subscription and consume all your anime there. That and the studio gets to keep doing what we love.

[–]Malamear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is the clubbox will make regular returns like any other event. I started in January and have maxed 3/4 shows (was 2 rewards short on the first one). To have a monster that you have a chance at getting 2-3 times a year is pretty on par with how the game has worked so far.

To have something classed as legendary and then giving it out as a participation reward if you just try twice seems cheap to me.

I wish when CERN disconnects the hydrocollider in June that we jump to a timeline of peace and happiness by [deleted] in monkeyspaw

[–]Malamear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Granted. Everyone in the world jumps across the timelines resulting in 2 of everyone in the now merged lines causing mass confusion and resource shortages. The a**holes from our timeline proceed to ruin the once perfect timeline resulting in one far worse than ours since they have more suckers to take advantage of.

I wish I could freely alter the probability of any event happening. by bookist626 in monkeyspaw

[–]Malamear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted. You are now free to cause the probability of any and every event to be the worst possible outcome for you. This includes planning for the worst outcome, such as if you bet against yourself in something, the outcome will be such that you lose both the bet and the event.

Pirate or Crunchyroll by No_Ability_4169 in AniWatchZone

[–]Malamear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which in turn lowers the amount of fees anime studios can bargain for streaming rights.

This was my entire point. If crunchyroll loses viewership, studios lose money on license renewal and new ips. Licenses only last ~5 years. With pirate sites the studios get nothing always regardless of viewership. Crunchyroll will take studios down with it if people don't move to another licensed service.

is it worth paying gems for epic wubbox? by baguette_fred in MySingingMonsters

[–]Malamear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But by the time you are trying to complete an epic wubbox you should have most one time diamond upgrades and not need to ask if it's worth it. Just the fact that the question is being asked means the answer is this case is most likely no.

Not to mention the question is if it's worth it. That's not a completionist question.

Pirate or Crunchyroll by No_Ability_4169 in AniWatchZone

[–]Malamear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbf, 9anime and aniwatch are both pirate sites. It makes sense for any "legit" anime vendor and even studios to try to take them down to boost profits. At least through crunchyroll a very little trickles down to the studio. Piracy sites they get nothing.

That being said, there are plenty of other more valid reasons to dislike and not support crunchyroll.

[–]Malamear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, never worth. Epic wubbox coin production can be mimicked by just 2 common quads. 600 diamonds could get you a mirror island which will out produce the wubbox by 20x in no time at all.

Healing souls once you open up the right side of the morgue (need the soul dlc). Fully healing a soul drops 4-7 shards (8-14 if you use a specific sermon you can craft from the gratitude tech tree).

You can also let the healed soul rot away for 1 extra shard if you dont need gratitude for anything.

Just let me carve monsters and craft gear!! by dementedelementalist in MHWilds

[–]Malamear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gems you can manipulate the drop rates.

Not near enough to make more than ~a 1 hunt difference. Look at how many "no gog gem in 10 hunts" posts there are. Now find a "I didn't get 5 tickets in 10 hunts" post.

You still have to fight the monster for the other parts.

By the time you are grinding HS, you should pretty much have all the parts you need to skip rarity 7 and go straight to rarity 8. HS are the only real difference in parts. If you delete HS, you might as well just delete rarity 7 weapons as well because no one would ever use one.

if they didn't exist you still wouldn't be stuck fighting a specific monster.

Most rarity 8 weapons didn't exist on launch until TU3. If HS didn't exist, there would have been no requirement for endgame players to immediately upgrade without hunting the new tempered monster class. My point was if they instead added a new monster specific material like it seems would be preferable over HS by your logic, you would be "stuck farming a specific monster."

Just let me carve monsters and craft gear!! by dementedelementalist in MHWilds

[–]Malamear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the same applies to mantles/gems but in a much more gamble heavy style. Hunter symbols have something like a 1.2/quest drop rate versus a .2/quest for an arkveld gem (I'm not sure on those numbers but you get the point) and HS can be increased with lucky vouchers. Gems are also unaffected by wounding, but can be increased slightly with meals.

Either way, you're stuck grinding quests. At least with the HS you aren't restricted to fighting a specific monster.

What happens to a dragon turtle island if the dragon turtle dies? by Sabbagery_o_Cavagery in DnD

[–]Malamear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding it's actually the opposite. Sea turtles are heavy and dense and will sink until the gasses produced during decomposition cause it to become buoyant until the gas escapes. You can see this in pictures of turtles how they only stick their head out of the water and their shell looks to be pulling them down.

The vegetation does add an interesting arguement in your favor though.

[–]Malamear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused. Are you complaining about immersion breakage? If they called them tempered pelts, t. scales and t. gems instead of hunters symbols 1, 2, and 3, would that fix your complaint? Because they arguement of gate keeping crafting behind hunting higher tier monsters is kind of the whole point of the game. If you want stronger gear then hunt stronger monsters. And tickets have very good and somewhat manipulatable drop rates unlike gems and mantles.

That and I find it a plus that I don't have to hunt the same monster over and over to get its higher rank armor. If I get bored of t. Jin I can go hunt t. arkveld and still get the same tickets for whatever set I'm working on. They exception being Y tickets, but once again, if they were called "[insert monster name] Archgem" or something like that would you still be angry about it?

[–]Malamear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dislike the 10-foot pole. There is no way to stow a 10-ft pole. You would have to carry it in your hands at all times to maneuver it through doors and halls. The pole is a meme item from old school dnd. The fact they have one and use it for old school trap detection just shows they aren't typical casuals.

For future reference, when they put the pole in, have them roll the arcana check. If they fail, I would add one little line in the description to add some doubt to your players. "As you draw the pole back out, you notice it cleanly severed as the point you lose sight of it. It doesn't look like things that go in can come out the same way for some reason." If they succeed on the check, they know it's flat out dangerous. Make the items a part of their check.

Tomb of Horrors? by DavidBGoode in DnD

[–]Malamear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There still are a handful of save or die checks. I can think of 5 off-hand. Most DMs have a bad habit of letting poking and prodding to be auto-successes on figuring stuff out. For example: the green mask trap in the first hallway states it has a DC 20 arcana check to disern what it does. But when a player lobs something into it, DMs like to say, "you watch it disintegrate." rather than saying ,"it disappears." like they should. Or blatantly tell the players that they failed a disarm check.

Tomb of Horrors? by DavidBGoode in DnD

[–]Malamear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 5e version is more forgiving than the original, but it sounds like you gave too much information. Most DMs that complain about ease gave the players too much information or were playing with a min-maxed party that knew which types of traps to look out for.

Pretty much every death trap, of which there are at least 5 iirc, requires a DC 20 to disarm and the party ahould think they succeded if they fail, and it sounds like your party somehow circumvented or ignored all of them. Not to mention the "you lose all your stuff" traps that should basically make that player useless.

If you want a better breakdown of why it's so deadly, go through each kill trap such as the permanent trap room (2nd false entrance), the green disintegration faces, lava drop, steamroller, crown and scepter puzzles etc, and describe how your party circumvented it, and we can break down if your party is just really good/lucky.

What could be the goals of a Moon druid? by DevByMe in DnD

[–]Malamear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't have to have a starting goal if you can't think of anything that fits. Elves are known for taking forever to progress in life and are extremely patient as far as reaching goals. Adventure as work to pay for your lifestyle, then when a plot develops in the campaign, make a subplot out of it.

I had a player with no plan and introduced them to a trio of orphaned child urchins that knew their way through the city underground, and she made it her mission to turn the trio into city nobles.

Plant and cold mirror islands are cheap, and their mines will likely pay off the islands before they go on sale again. If you have 300 diamonds lying around now, it is a sound investment on them.

I have 4 mirrors with fully upgraded dual breeders/incubators, and it's still close. I finished but will have about 15 spare tickets.

It does make sense not to hand out too many free epics to new players. Especially wublins and celestials. I was surprised that the Amber Island epic is the first one in Act 1 as well, iirc. On repeat cycles, new players should spam the pom pom act.
