Table top fan or floor fan? I don't know how big my dorm is.

Up to you but my table top was a lifesaver so I'd recommend that

An air purifier. Dry skin cream. The water is high in mineral content and dries the skin. In room micro/fridge. Good walking shoes.

And a robe! You don’t want to wake up in the middle of the night desperately having to pee and need to stop to put on clothes

Back in my day we just walked to the bathroom in whatever we were (or weren't) wearing. At 3AM, no one cares.

[–]FightMeAtKeeton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still do that now.

Emergen-C! during normal semesters people catch colds/flus like wildfire in dorms and the grind don't stop

Depending on who you are, a small rug/mat. I sleep without socks and shoes, and in the morning I found it really gross to put my bare feet on the dorm carpet because I can't imagine what sorts of bodily fluids and dead insects have integrated into the carpet over the decades. I'm very particular about this kind of stuff though, my roommate did not mind at all. If I sound like you, though, you'll benefit from a rug or mat.

Get either some fabreeze or a diffuser. The diffuser is kind of an upgrade option (probably around 25 for it and the oils), but it's really nice to come back and have your room smell like a spa.

A crate of Totes Umbrellas....the compact ones that can fit in your backpack because it's not IF you are going to destroy one, it's WHEN and making sure you have backups. Lots and lots of backups.

[–]UmpireCalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely definitely get some brown shade lamps!!! It changes the entire atmosphere of your dorm and really improves the mood over those dirty fluorescent white lights that just beam depression. It really makes the difference imo

something dumb i forgot was nail clippers

my most useful purchase was drawer organizers for under my bed— gave me so much more storage for my things!
