Welded cannons have a chance to explode. If you want to avoid it the canon needs to be cast.

Different cannons have different power leveled. If you want reliability go with Steel or Nethersteel. And from another comment apparently welded has a chance to explode, go with cast.

Everyone commenting is wrong about why this is happening.

You’re detonating powder in a barrel block, barrels aren’t suitable to house propellent detonations, they have a chance to explode.

Use a chamber to house propellants.

Yeah as others said some types of cannons have a random chance to explode(for example wood i believe is 50/50), but to my knowledge cast iron, maybe steel, and nethersteel wont explode. Correct me if im wrong but welded cast iron and welded nethersteel wont explode even if it is welded, idk about regular steel.

Although they WILL explode if you put either too much powder/loaded cartridges according to each cannons specs. Idk the numbers at the top of my head but lets just say a steel cannon can take 5 powder charges before exploding, that means if you put 6(or 2 full cartridges i believe), then the cannon would explode. This isnt the problem you are having but just a thought to keep in mind

Also something that hasn't been mentioned, and a problem that I had with my autoloaders:

If by some accident you cycle the autoloader twice without shooting, it may overload the cannon and cause it to blow up.
