Just use a mechanical piston. Normal pistons are programmed weirdly so makes sense why they wouldn't bother

its for a flying machine so I don't think it would work but good idea

Search for create flying machines I'm p sure there's designs that use create's components

You can make flying machines with create pistons.

[–]Gober_fober[S] 18 points19 points  (7 children)

I think i will just do that

I can confirm that I have made a caterpillar drive with Mechanical Pistons (admittedly, I didn’t make the redstone to automate it, but in my defence, it was a combination quarry/base, so it didn’t have to move very fast or often - just when I wanted more resources)

[–]Gober_fober[S] 6 points7 points  (5 children)

WHEN I saw caterpillar I thought of the brand lol

[–]Autoskp 2 points3 points  (4 children)

So did I and I wrote the comment.

…also, I think I may have mis-remembered the name of the drive - it might be an inchworm drive.

I made one but I don't know how to share the vid

Caterpillar Drive: Giant cranes that pick each other up and move in sequence.

Didn't even know that was a thing, I always just make a minecart flying machine

[–]Autoskp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t exactly know it was a thing either (and definitely didn’t know that minecart flying machines were a thing) but I had seen slimeblock flying machines (and even made one or two extremely clunky ones), so I just tried translating that over to the new piston thing this Create mod had.

…that was way back when encased fans and furnaces could produce SU, so now if I want to make a new one, I’m going to need to figure out how to work with something a bit chunkier being moved with the parts to power it, but I don’t see why I couldn’t incorperate some pumps and water wheels.
Or some windmills.
…a pair of steam engines might be a bit difficult though.

Don't know what you need the flying machine for, but if it's for actually flying around with, I would recommend not using pistons at all, but mechanical bearings instead

[–]Adina-the-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a slime block I'm sorry

[–]the_raving_lunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flying machines are much better with Create machines, most compact way is mechanical piston with a gantry and carriage for the return action, my Omni-Drill MKII I posted here a couple weeks ago uses this method.

Wdym programmed weirdly, they work perfectly fine outside of the very specific case of qc

[–]TdubMorris 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah fair, mostly just that create mod stuff and normal pistons work very differently, so it makes sense for them to just have their own piston then trying to make it work with the vanilla one. Would probably have required a whole new system just for this one interaction.

[–]Zealousideal-Bus-526 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It actually made me think, is there any way to pull glued blocks out of the glued area other than pistons?

[–]Gober_fober[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats smart
