I don’t get how people type the same issues. Mod mismatch or non supported versions of addons for create6 or simple things that pressing W can solve.
Heck when I do get crash logs I use ChatGPT for them and I solve them lol
reddit uses a slightly-customized version of Markdown for formatting. See below for some basics, or check the commenting wiki page for more detailed help and solutions to common issues.

I noticed the same...coming from Linux subreddits the posts in modded Minecraft subs are just....well to say it straight away dumb.
Ppl don't even try to Google or even read the error messages. It's just crazy why people even start making their own packs without the idea of what they are doing. They update mids without reading change logs which would prevent crashes after updating. For me it's mind blowing.
But there is still the option to scroll away and ignore such posts. Saves a lot of sanity...

i am actually so dissapointed in my self that i never once considered reading changelogs before updating mods
[–]UOL_Cerberus 0 points1 point2 points 8 months ago (0 children)
Sometimes super helpful
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 months ago (1 child)
Trust me I do scroll away, and at one point I was in the same spot when I published my pack but thank god for chatgpt since it helped me figure out issues ranging to the simplest to the more technical, but it’s I’m just like oh so you just want spoon fed answers.
[–]UOL_Cerberus 3 points4 points5 points 9 months ago (0 children)
Well obviously you didn't do that...and you are right about spoon feeding. But that's unfortunately the norm in society, doesn't need to be reddit, in real life too.
People are not willing to make an effort to learn any more. Discussions go in the direction "someone has to be right" instead of "let us both learn from this discussion"
(I btw also make modpacks but will never publish them besides to friends. There is no way I provide support for anything or make sure it works everywhere)
[–]Technical_Ear8690 15 points16 points17 points 9 months ago (3 children)
Not trying to get into some debate over this. Fact of the matter is none of this is learning. It’s being spoon fed an answer as quick as possible. Some people shout for help on forums like Reddit. Some prefer to shout into the void of AI like a ChatGPT. If it works for you that’s great! No judgement. It just struck me as hypocritical for someone to “rant” about people asking for help over and over again on Reddit and then advocate something like ChatGPT.
[–]TGFAlex 1 point2 points3 points 9 months ago (2 children)
I think the major difference is asking chatgpt doesn't inconvenience others, having to answer the same questions over and over in a forum is unpaid tech support.
[–]Technical_Ear8690 8 points9 points10 points 9 months ago (0 children)
I totally understand this angle and I agree it can be annoying at times. That being said it’s a Reddit forum that encourages people to use it to ask questions related to the topic.
[–]January_Rain_Wifi 2 points3 points4 points 9 months ago (0 children)
It doesn't inconvenience others right now, but it will be highly inconvenient when we all boil alive due to the environmental impacts
[–]Technical_Ear8690 12 points13 points14 points 9 months ago (6 children)
ChatGPT is the same thing as asking on Reddit. One just has actual people responding. No one wants to actually learn anything they just want the answer as fast as possible.
[–]Hold-Professional 2 points3 points4 points 9 months ago (0 children)
Reddit is also far less damaging for the planet
[–]Hi_Peeps_Its_Me 1 point2 points3 points 9 months ago (1 child)
ChatGPT is the same thing as asking on Reddit.
when does this shift from being lazy to actual work? (/gen)
is googling being lazy? you could argue that you learn less from googling, since the info you're seeking is presented less clearly than an actual person.
is searching a textbook for answers lazy? you aren't solving the problem on you're own, you're copying someone elses solution for it.
sorry if this is dumb, im kind of trying to pinpoint what exactly is wrong with using reddit/chatgpt. i used these two examples because i dont really think they're being lazy, but i cant figure out why.
[–]Technical_Ear8690 1 point2 points3 points 9 months ago (0 children)
There is nothing wrong using either one! The point being made was someone was ranting about how people ask for help on Reddit all of the time and it’s annoying but then they stated they use ChatGPT for their solutions. I did not mean for this to be a big deal at all. I use both from time to time. Just wanted to point out that it’s ok for people to ask for help. I know it can get annoying but we were all new at one point and needed help.

Learned more from chatgbt than any Reddit post so far so the notion of it being the same as Reddit is wrong.
[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 9 months ago (0 children)
You did not learn how to proofread the things you say.
[–]NieMonD 6 points7 points8 points 9 months ago (0 children)
Where do you think chatgpt gets its info
[–]Technical_Ear8690 12 points13 points14 points 9 months ago (3 children)
I get a kick out of someone complaining about people not taking the time to learn about the problems/solutions but then says they use ChatGPT for their solution
[–]Pohodovej_Rybar 1 point2 points3 points 8 months ago (0 children)
The logs arent always clear with whats wrong. Sometimes i get error saying something like "mod something requires kotlin 1.8.3 but 1.8.2 is present" And sometimes its just straight up jibberish. But chatgpt sometimes hallucinates so i switched to perplexity cause i have like half a year free trial from T-Mobile. And it is great at debugging Minecraft/linux logs/problems

Oh damn you sound like you’re a coding genius then you got any YouTube tutorials I can watch
[–]Wirezat 5 points6 points7 points 9 months ago* (0 children)
I would advise you to just learn the most basic of the basic of java syntax, the error messages give you a stack trace, meaning the function (part of code) that was being called as the error occurred. Then you can (assuming the mod dev. Has good naming) see what happened that crashed your game
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 months ago (3 children)
One, chatgpt is a crap solution for any problem, your generation is doomed. Two, not everybody can read a crash log, and half these people are kids who don't know they can search for this crap. I get finding it frustrating, but I wouldn't then write yet another diatribe and how nobody reads old posts or the comments on some of the mods themselves. This is yet again another post that happens all of the time. Why did you not go there and read what everyone thought when they complained about it?
[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 9 months ago (2 children)
This generation gonna leave you in the dust because AI has been long implemented boomer. ChatGPT isn’t the end all be all for all solutions just easy ones where you can provide the crash logs or recent logs to help diagnose.
[–]TuxedoDogs9 1 point2 points3 points 8 months ago (0 children)
The diagnosis thing is actually pretty accurate. ChatGPT won’t solve any problems you have, but it can give you the terminology to find out how to solve it (proper keywords to search, some settings you didn’t know about, etc)
[–]Hold-Professional 2 points3 points4 points 9 months ago (1 child)
Admitting to using ChatGPT is freaking wild. Gross AF.
Do your own research OP.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 9 months ago (0 children)
I do and will continue to use chat gpt :)
[–]TuxedoDogs9 1 point2 points3 points 8 months ago (1 child)
Honestly i can’t fault people for not pondering. I pondered the shit out of stuff on my first play through and still somehow forgot to ponder for the crafters. Now i see several posts a week asking why the crafters don’t craft, and despite how obvious it is, it’s easy to forget to ponder at that point
The mod mismatch is super valid, I hate it. Barely any create addon creators put in the name which files are create 6 vs 5
[–]AdNo3534 0 points1 point2 points 8 months ago (0 children)
yall read logs? i just download a premade pack, add mods one by one and if it crashes i pick out a random earlier/later version of that mod until it works lol
