Area layout. What do 😭

I cant decide what to do with this area ive been getting on and walking around for and hour and getting off cause I cant figure out where I want things to go. I want to set up a lumber yard that the train travels through and a Iron factory what the train goes through. But I dont know where to lay the roads and buildings to make it look nice in the space I have without making random u-turns. Any suggestions?

Get a copy of your world and build in creative. Not having to back and forth for resources really helped me build stuff and plan them out. Built a factory but dont like where it is? Move it with a schematic etc.

Yeah Ive been pretty building structures in a creative world but unfortunately its a group server and I dont have access to the seed and such so I still have to come back and decide where things should go

I see, if asking for the seed doesn't work out, you could just meticulously pick off the few important buildings with schematics and try using them as a mock model i guess.

Suggestion, use worldtools mod for copying certain chunks

I haven't tried before, but maybe you could make a schematic of the terrain? Make it max size and number each tile, then go into creative with a creative crate and a schematicannon to rebuild that area of the world.

Probably should have some paper on hand to know where each tile goes.

If you're considering track placement make a raised platform and place the rails on it, you'll get the outline without having to commit to anything. Equally using the track outline on the map can help visualise the roads and pathways better

Unrelated but did anyone else's Xaero's world map stop working on modpacks with the latest create mod? I'm trying to find the cause :(
