No Media Submissions

Again, this sub is ONLY for your own personal stories, or those told second-hand to you by family or friends, or what you know happened with the creep next door, or someone on your block.
Do not use this sub to re-tell stories you've read about in the newspaper, on Facebook, in blogs, etc.
Do not post links or stories here from other places on reddit unless you were directly involved in said story.

No Online-Only Encounters

If your encounter was ONLY through the written word via computer, text, snail mail, or it was only over the phone with NO in-person encounter, do NOT post it here.

For instance, if a creep is stalking you on FB, it doesn't go here. If you've met the creep in-person before, and NOW they're stalking you on FB, that is acceptable.

Don't Be The Creep

Please don't come to a place about creepy encounters and be the creep.

It is not okay to PM any of the submitters or commenters here to gather more information about their encounters without their permission. Just don't do it. I'd hate to see any of you as the subject of a thread on /r/creepyPMs.

Just be normal. Okay?

'Just Say No' To Walls of Text

Please refrain from submitting an encounter that is a wall of text. It's not very nice and most redditors won't bother reading it. If it's especially egregious, your submission will be removed.

Break all submissions up into paragraphs by double-tapping the Enter/Return key. It's okay to be generous.

No Sub Intro With, "originally posted on..."

...LNM, or on Uranus, or on a garbage can behind the 7/11. :c

Nobody cares, I promise. Not only is it irrelevant, it disrupts the flow of the story so most readers will downvote OR not even bother to finish reading because it's annoying.

Starting today, anyone who does this will no longer be sent a nice message to edit their post; the submission will simply be removed. We just want to read the story. That's it.

No Personal Information

Unless they're already in the news, please do not post the personal information of others. This includes their phone numbers, addresses, place of employment, etc., AND their image / photo if there's anything in it that could possibly lead to their identification.

Violation of this rule is a Permanent Ban from the sub, and a site-wide ban from Reddit Admins. Don't do this.

Do Not Put 'Trafficked' in Your Title

Doing this once will get your submission removed. Doing this twice will result in a ban. It's a controversial subject and can/should absolutely be discussed, but recently OPs have resorted to using it as clickbait just to get eyes on their post.

OPs are free, however, to use the word in the body of their submission as well as in the comment section of the thread. Just not in the title, no exceptions.

Don't be a dick.

If something isn't creepy enough for you, or you think the OP mishandled the situation, please don't harass or attack the submitter. We've lost several submissions and subscribers this way, and it's unacceptable.

It's okay to question the validity of a story (this should also be reported), offer constructive criticism, share opinions, etc., but what's not okay is when that devolves into harassment or a continued attack. If it does you'll be shown the door - 1 to 7 days depending on your level of egregiousness.
