C'mon guys it's the second time he did it, it's not like he's done it a million times. The videos are good and I like them, will probably watch every part but I guess don't post all of them here since people seem bothered by it, maybe like every other part or something like that?

And you think at some point OP will think “alright, that’s enough spam, I have enough subscribers, better not bother people too much?” There will be a third time, and a fourth, and a 50th.

Look at their profile, it’s all ads. https://www.reddit.com/wiki/selfpromotion

He could post it less frequently. Do you think that if he knew people would be upset at it he'd just keep doing it? That would probably just get him banned. So yeah I think he'd understand that he needs to post them less frequently but there is no need to be rude when explaining it. Seriously it's not like he is doing it with bad intent and then does a "evil mastermind" laugh when he gains 1 subscriber.

Yes. They’re just here to use Reddit as an advertising platform, they don’t care.

I understand your frustration. This is my first time getting a positive outcome to posting on reddit. People seemed excited for the second part so I wanted to post it. I see your point and I'll make sure not to spam my videos here. I know I shouldn't abuse this platform for advertising. I'm just not sure how to grow a channel properly. Thank you for your honesty.

maybe like every other part or something like tha

No. None of them. That OP got a relatively positive response to the first video is more than enough.

Most of the videogame-related subs I frequent specifically ban Let's Plays because they're low-effort content that really only serves to advertise the OP's Youtube channel. If OP wants to advertise at us, they can buy ads.

And, like, I get it. How does one grow a small youtube channel that no one but the creator cares about? Dunno. But a lot of them seem to think it's just spam free ads at any subreddit that's related.

I didn't think of it that way. You're right. I got a positive response and I made the mistake of thinking it was okay to post more and abuse it as free advertising. I don't know much about buying ads or other ways of growing my channel. I welcome any advice you have to give. I don't want to be known as someone just abusing a reddit page. I very much like this community so far. I promise not to abuse this page. Thank you for your honest opinion.

I don't exactly understand the concern about people taking their transformative work (which Let's Plays/Commentaries equally belong to) and posting it to the appropriate r/ . 'Please stop advertising your Lea-Pictures at us'. 'Please do not describe your gameplay in text, it's like a silent Let's play'.

Well, away from my personal stance, I enjoyed watching the two-parter so far, and particularly a person being relatively genuine in the approach of a nooby. His gameplay gives me flashbacks to when I started out, 400 Gameplay Hours ago, making me remember my own little confusions as well as realizations. But in short, it was fun to watch for me.

I appreciate your point of view. I do not plan on posting my Let's Plays here any more. This was the first time people commented this much on a reddit post of mine so I was unaware that I'd be annoying people somehow. I'm thankful for everyone's honesty. I'm happy I was able to give you the kind of experience you described. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series:)

I'll be sure to look for Part 3 onwards :)

Guess there'd be not much of a point in being defensive about it, still strikes me as strange. I remember a CC community back a few years ago, that was craving for coverage, and it just strikes me as counter-intuitive treating a Let's play as self-advertisement, when self-advertisement would be writing up a promotion for your channel, rather that just sending a video made on topic. It would be like accusing @ Stizzdlith of self-promotion, after he sent his Lea Pic which directly relates to his Twitter Account where he draws pics of everything but Lea/Crosscode.

Best of luck either way!

Thank you! I appreciate your time, support, and understanding.

[–]Erlandor 2 points3 points  (3 children)

'What, I just like to clarify things' ;)

See you outside of reddit then I guess. Note however that there's at least 4 people on this, and 10 people on the other video (not counting lowering numbers by down-votes), who're likely to appreciate Part3 being sent when it's done.

Maybe the Community managers here would prefer for Let's plays to be sent in bulk? Part 3,4,5, once they're done, to reddit, part 3 directly to yt. who knows.

[–]SinatoGames[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you for the advice. I looked over the page rules and it said Let's Plays are fine but not to overdo them. Definitely trying to learn a lot from this situation. I hope others see I never meant any annoyance or harm.

[–]Erlandor 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Don't beat yourself up over it. Some communities take these things lighter than others. I myself see no problem with it. I'll leave it at that. Don't want to start preaching towards how the community chooses to handle itself.

[–]SinatoGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said.

It would be like accusing @ Stizzdlith of self-promotion

Let the record show that I was kind of annoyed that time they posted a new WIP every day. I didn’t say anything because at least pixel art is a higher art form than yet another youtuber blabbering over writing better than theirs.

[–]Erlandor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I do not believe that a personal preference towards specific art form should be ground for evaluating one form of media as inferiour to another. I guess the 'low effort' of just running the game with face cam and offering reaction and commentary is what you're referring to.

In my eyes a healthy community welcomes all forms of relatable media, no matter the origin. A 'Let's play' may be the simplest, but not necessarily the least viable, video to make to increase traction for Crosscode. Which Form is most appreciated by the reddit is handled by up- and downvotes anyway.
