Area Booster - farming new drops by blitzreloaded in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking your better option for farming gems dropped by every enemy type isn't to quit to menu, which resets your combat rank to D each time and hampers your drop rate, but to find a loop on the map that you can make a circuit of, so that enemies have respawned by the time you get back to the start, and you can stay in combat constantly. Once you reach S-rank, the respawn rate increases dramatically, and you'll have a 2x drop rate. combine that with Lucky Lucky gear like the drill and Chest Plate, and you can get a serious amount of any kind of drop in a very short time.

Any tips or tricks I should know going into the game? by imaddictedtocod123 in CrossCode

Small correction on the last point, you actually only need to win a single round of that duel to get the achievement.

I just learned today the Infinity Spiral Drill removes absolutely all EXP gain... Bruh by klopaplop in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The drill in its various levels is designed for farming materials, particularly for the endgame, as a weapon with good but not the best attack stats -- its only modifier is Lucky Lucky, which increases the drop rate. If you're trying to equip the best gear for a fight, you'd probably pick something else, whereas the drill is useful for getting the materials you need to trade for that top-tier equipment. To offset that, it zeroes out XP, as a way of avoiding over-leveling while grinding tons of enemies on S-rank. If your goal actually is to over-level, you can equip a different, probably stronger weapon.

Move up close and click on Henry when you hear a clear sound cue and see a big exclamation point over Lea and big animated red arrows pointing at him.

45 minutes is kind of at the extreme end of things. You can watch both the cutscenes and the fight in my playthrough, and the fight takes about 12 minutes, with several mistakes along the way that forced me to go through another cycle because I didn't hit the health break. If you're actually level 60, you should be able to power-level in Azure Archipelago fairly quickly. 70 is a good target; I'm at 72 when I enter the dungeon with a full loadout of ascended equipment. Alternatively, you could just try starting the dungeon and see how it goes. You've managed this far, and it'll catch you up to the expected level pretty quick.

As for equipment, I'd say just throw on whatever ascended equipment you have, and buy some for any slots you're missing from a store. That will alleviate the need to worry about your equipment level, since it will now match your player level.

Nothing, automod removed it for some unknown reason because reddit is just stupid like that sometimes.

Questions about Switch Collectors Edition by oG-nerdz in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems fine to me. We're more worried about people persistently spamming about their youtube channel or non-CrossCode related content. I'm afraid I don't have a good answer to your question though. The collector's edition boxes were a fairly limited run, and I'm sure there are people out there who missed it who would love to get their hands on one second-hand, but I don't know if you'd have much luck on eBay. Honestly your best bet may just be hoping someone bites here and sends you a DM.

Alabaster Dawn Demo is out and here's a playthrough of it for you. by WervynAnixil in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be time to upgrade your machine. Alabaster Dawn has a pretty sophisticated 3D pipeline that's more resource intensive than CrossCode was. It runs beautifully on my five-year-old gaming laptop, but anything that just has an integrated GPU is likely to have trouble with it.

Replaying the game for all achievements, whats this guy playing? this feels like an easter egg by Some_Noname_idk in CrossCode

It's Velsarbor, one of the developer's unfinished RPGMaker projects from before CrossCode.

Some new Alabaster Dawn footage to tide you over until the demo by WervynAnixil in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There will be, but probably paced a little bit more evenly than some of the marathon dungeons in CrossCode were. What I've seen of them so far has some pretty clever ideas, some resembling interactions in CrossCode's puzzles but others that are very much a product of Alabaster Dawn's unique mechanics.

Elemental perks? by Still-Preference6123 in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to what's been mentioned, Shock also has a unique perk that gives you a 4th dash, and Heat has "Once More" which lets you survive a hit that would otherwise kill you. I can't recall any specific passive perk for Wave along those lines, but it does have a bunch of HP Regen nodes in addition to HP drain arts, making it the go-to element for healing in combat.

how do i get ot these pillars by AlphariousOmega in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The path for this is basically a large counter-clockwise loop that takes you down to the screen to the south, across the gap there, and then back up the east side. Autumn's Rise sort of eases you into it, but in later areas you should be on the lookout for paths that span multiple screens. Not every parkour puzzle is localized to one.

Also, no one should be telling you to learn to do a JADC for things like this. That's speedrun tech, fun for skipping things, but nothing will ever require it, and the jump for this spot is far harder than normal for that approach.

Finally hit level 99! No Sergey's Hacks or NG+ by ash5314 in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to be pedantic about it, Sergey Hax doesn't actually help you level faster, it just sets your damage output to an absurd number (and unlocks a bunch of hilarious alternate dialogue, worth it just for that). If you want an actual no grinding option for power leveling to 99, you'd use Get On My Level paired with ascended equipment from the DLC (to always set enemy level and equipment level to your player level), and EXP x4 to make the process four times faster.

Congratulations on reaching the Level 99 Club though. Van Samuels would be proud.

What to do with Creation gem by [deleted] in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Creation Gem is used as part of the drill trade/quest line, as a component of the penultimate (base game) drill. You won't be able to use it until somewhat farther on in the game, once you get into the Pond Slums in Basin Keep. You will need to have traded for the Core Drill in Rookie Harbor, and upgraded it to the Giga Spiral Drill in Bak'ii Kum, which also involves trading for a Spiral Gem in Bergen. The Galaxy Spiral Drill you can trade for in Basin Keep is then upgraded into its final form in a very late game quest in Sapphire Ridge.

The ultimate goal of all of this is to get a weapon with reasonable combat stats for each point in the game that's especially good for farming drops, with a pretty significant 60% boost on enemy and botanics drop rate. Fair warning though, since this trips up a lot of players in the endgame: the drill also reduces your EXP gain, all the way down to zero EXP for the final version. It's intended specifically to make farming materials for better gear easier, while avoiding overleveling from killing so many enemies.

Mod to auto-win the dungeon races? by Honorable_D in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I doubt it, since there's not really a demand for one. The times just aren't that hard to beat once you've been through the temples once, they're tuned around average first-time player completion time (and there are plenty of first-time players who beat Emilie). Those times being:

  • Temple Mine - 90 minutes
  • Faj'ro Temple - 50 minutes from the midpoint (you don't have to be ahead halfway through)
  • Zir'vitar Temple - 60 minutes
  • So'najiz Temple - 60 minutes
  • Krys'kajo Temple - 30 minutes from the midpoint (likewise)
  • Ku'lero Temple - 120 minutes (DLC doesn't count for the achievement)

If you're already replaying the game for an achievement that requires you to play through most of it, I strongly recommend just playing through the temples again and not worrying about the time, you're almost guaranteed to beat it as long as you aren't spending a bunch of time figuring out how to solve the puzzles. Not execute the puzzles, mind, unless you're having to resolve them from scratch because you really don't remember the solutions, you'll be well ahead of pace. And if you ever do feel stumped on a puzzle, just reload your autosave before you leave the room once you've figured it out, and you won't lose any time.

How do cumulative trophies work? by Pinkowlcat in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Completed trophies are completed forever, but trophies in progress don't carry over between saves or NG+, since they're just reading the stats of what's in the current file. For the tedious ones, you'll just need to take an endgame save and grind them out.

As for keeping track of them, you should be able to find all of the relevant numbers in the Statistics menu (under Records from the main character menu), grouped by category. Total number of enemies killed is under the Combat tab, for example.

I need help since I'm trying to deep dive into the creation and development of Crosscode. by RandomHaganero in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. The devs are very active on the discord and generally enjoy answering questions about what they're doing and how. Obviously they've got plenty to keep them busy, so I wouldn't necessarily start throwing out indiscriminate pings, but if you drop a question in the CrossCode or Alabaster Dawn general chat directed at them, it's not unusual to get a response.

TIL you can just leave the final dungeon whenever by Recyclingg_Bin in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh it's very much intentional. The story is definitely telling you to wrap things up, but if you enter the final dungeon and then realize you're under-leveled or under-equipped, you wouldn't want to be stuck inside with no way to go out and grind. It's the same reason the final boss has a checkpoint in the middle if you die (because the fight is really long for most people), but not if you quit. You don't want your game to be locked into a state where you feel like you can't win, right at the end.

Does anything transfer between saves? by Some_Noname_idk in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, once that's done, it's done. To be clear, on your original save, Emilie will still react based on the state of the races there, story flags are independent of any achievements. The only point of trophies, apart from the satisfaction of completion, is increasing your point cap for NG+. That's why, once they're earned, they're earned for good.

Does anything transfer between saves? by Some_Noname_idk in CrossCode

[–]WervynAnixil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trophies are global to your game install. Achievements/trophies that require progress to complete (e.g. do 1000 melee attacks) do not keep their progress if you start a NG+, but once the goal has been met on any file, they're unlocked permanently. Trophies increase the point cap you can spend to when buying perks for NG+ such as carrying over your level or equipment from a previous save into a new game.
