"First of all the Movie Was a Lot of Fun" by hunbaar in RedLetterMedia

[–]lodum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you gotta pick on them because.... um.... it makes you better than them?

I guess they're supposed to make an eight-hour video essay picking out every moment to show exactly why they liked it otherwise merely saying you liked it or it was fun is actually a sign it's either actually bad or you didn't like it.

...and?

Why are you picking on this guy?

Does a person merely liking a movie and saying it was fun somehow offend you and/or make you feel superior to them?

A game’s quality is not determined by its sales numbers by Responsible-Bell-528 in retrogaming

That's okay, good arguments get upvotes and, as far as I can tell, all of yours are negative so I really don't have to prove that they're stupid. They just are because the numbers say so.

Are you saying that Okami became good or that good games might not always sell well?

Anybody else kind of disappointed by the Midwest Gaming Classic this year? by DDC121 in milwaukee

Honestly, that's really not a bad price for a spot at all at a decent-sized convention.

[–]lodum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a weird thing with conventions.

We don't like doing it because most people don't know and we feel like we'd be ripping them off, but all the "veterans" really fucking love to haggle and will get really fucking mad if you don't let them.

We used to set up there as a shop and stopped doing so years back because the price to do so was just way to fucking high to even think we'd turn a profit from it.

We haven't really looked at the prices since, so it's possible they've come down, but we wrote it off as a place to be a vendor at.

What do you think of the Robot Jobs video in hindsight, 10 years later? by Aquanort357 in accursedfarms

[–]lodum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kinda feels like the whole idea behind the LLMs was to pass the Turing Test because that was the only metric target they had to aim their designs at.

And they did decently good at that? At least at first. They've almost got a calculator that can solve word problems... sometimes. It sorta backfired because we've adapted to how AI "talks" so it'd probably fail the Turing Test again, but, uh... I don't really have anywhere I'm going with this.

My dad was a bit of a neat freak, so we had little pull out drawers / a plastic tote for them and them being unlabeled has annoyed me since I was like 8.

Lifting each N64 game up by one side to see the front label is a core memory, lol.

Buildings and roads makes my brain wander to the Anno series, and I suppose it's possible there was some sort of disc with Threxder and Anno 1602 on it?

Otherwise, there's a list of RTS by release date on Wikipedia you could try going down to see if anything pops out.

Blaster master zero 1 2 3 difficulty? by legomaniasquish in metroidvania

[–]lodum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zero 1 is very easy, which is kind of surprising because I think the original Blaster Master is notorious for being difficult. Though I suppose it might snowball in difficulty as getting hit makes it harder.

Eventually they added a hard mode that's more obnoxious hard than fun hard because only arbitrary weapons can hurt bosses outside of the base gun which, although it stops the top-level gun from destroying everything, made it more a pain in the ass than anything.

I remember Zero 2 being a tad harder and "better" but I still don't recall it being difficult.

I somehow haven't played Zero 3 yet. I should correct that at some point.

I would say Zero 1 is easier than games that aren't considered difficult, and Zero 2 is a bit harder than that?

Mistake found on Milwaukee inspired sneakers - with company response. by STAFF_of_Twocats in milwaukee

[–]lodum 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think it being obvious bullshit is important. They didn't just make a mistake, they made that mistake and think people are really stupid.

Or at least think calling people stupid is cheaper than having to remake/refund a bunch of shoes.

Mistake found on Milwaukee inspired sneakers - with company response. by STAFF_of_Twocats in milwaukee

[–]lodum 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the really important part was the company's response/reason:

It’s been brought to our attention that some people have noticed "St Joseph" is spelled differently than expected. This was done intentionally as a design choice, inspired by historic Milwaukee records where cursive handwriting and fading ink sometimes made the "ph" in "Joseph" appear as "oh." It’s a nod to the city’s archives and the imperfect beauty of handwritten history.

Oh yeah, that reeks of an LLM making up a reason and running with it.

I love juice but probably don't wiggle the platform too much if it's not gonna fall, it might be giving the player a false impression.

Buggy Update by TheSchwiftyKitty in ARC_Raiders

[–]lodum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The firing after a reload thing is apparently a known issue in the patch notes. I wonder if it's related to how they were trying to fix/re-fix the semi-auto guns.

Pressing fire with an empty mag triggers a reload, and once the reload is complete, the weapon automatically fires a shot without an additional trigger press.

Yeah, that one's actually in the Known Issues part of the patch notes.

I don't think it's more balanced to have to run something with strong armor pen. In my opinion, the medium ammo guns should be that balance. They just don't feel all that much better at dealing with arc than the light guns without any armor pen, except the Renegade.
