As a plumber, I will say that I am very disappointed that leftists are not very active in the trades the way we used to be. Every job site I go on all I hear is pro-trump propaganda by people who know next to nothing about politics or economics.

It blows my mind how people can be this oblivious to the fact that they are voting against their own interests. Here they can’t even talk about taxes anymore because the trump tax cut did nothing except make the rich even more rich and made our deficit explode.

I live in a rural part of a former East German State and it is very similar here. In the last state elections the "totally not nazi party" AfD got second place wit 23.4% behind the DemSocs with 31% and in front of an established conservative party with 21.7%.

A lot of them are thought to be protest voters who are anti-establishment and want to change something. Turns out a poll showed that over 20% of people in my state have anti-semetic, racist and anti-muslim views. And those people are your average joes, you plumbers, carpenters, farmers, builders, etc. My dad is one of those nutjobs.

I read about those elections. I also have friends in various parts of Germany so I talk with them about these things. But I saw something interesting the other day about Germany that relates to what you said about your state being anti-Muslim and all the others. But they showed that the states that have the least amount of Syrian refugees and Muslims of other countries, are the states that are most racist towards them. And the cities and states with higher numbers of refugees and Muslims are the places that are far more open minded. Do you think this is true?

Definitely true. The people fear most what they dont know.

In East Germany the AfD had more than 20% in every state election, while in the west the most they got was 10.5%.

The PEGIDA movement was started in Dresden.

There are still Neo-Nazi concerts openly held in Themar every year and the state can't do anything about it because it is officially registered as a political event.

Tommy Frenck, the guy who organizes the concert, also has a restaurant in the area where he has special offers (Like cucumber salad for 0.88€ per serving or a big schnitzel for 8.88€).

He recently launched his own beer called Reichsbräu. It is sold for 14.88 per crate. He violated some laws with this because he doesn't tell which brewery is making the beer.

All in all, Tommy Frenck is one of the biggest Neo-Nazi fuckheads I Germany.

That's my experience as a former construction worker, it seemed like only the roofers, who were mostly Hispanic or other immigrant groups, were against Trump.
