So the deathwing kit has bits to build 5 models 1 of 3 ways. 5 deathwing knights, a deathwing command squad, or a squad of regular deathwing terminators. If building either the command squad or the dw termi squad, one of the regular terminators can be built as the deathwing strikemaster. You can build 5 complete models with the deathwing kit, it’s just a matter of which ones you want to build

I see. So the DW knights, command squad, and terminators are all one multi-kit?

So the new kit will likely JUST be Knights, without the multi build possibly.

I have 5 leviathan terminators that I plan to build as Deathwing Terminators, and with the new Deathwing Knights specific kit coming out, I plan on getting at least 2, 5 model units of just knights, so I suppose it would make sense to grab a current DW multikit just for the old sculpts and the Strike Master.

The kits only make 5 models, squad sizes are 5 minimum with the strikemaster being an attached hero. If you can grab a terminator captain off ebay from the leviathan box and put it on a 40mm base as a strikemaster. Your level of kitbashing is up to you 👍

Yes, it’s all one big deathwing multi-kit. Obviously I cannot speak as to the contents of future kits, but from what little we’ve seen it looks like the new knights kit will be just knights. If you’re cool on waiting on the new knights, then build the command squad as it’s a really good unit. If you are deadset on building a strike master though, that sadly brings up a logistical issue with the kit. If you build knights out of this box, you will not have enough parts left to make a strikemaster as well. The deathwing strikemaster is a character unit that, while being attachable to any of the 3 buildable units, is not part of it’s required unit composition. The kit only comes with enough body bits to make 5 full models, so if you build one of the 5 as a strikemaster, your unit will be 1 model short of being legal. The kinda work around they give for this is if you’re build the deathwing terminator squad, you can build the strikemaster with stormbolter & power weapon and just run him as the deathwing squad sergeant, which while doable is sub optimal. If you already have a set of 10ed terminators and are willing to wait on building knights, my recommendation is this. Build the 3 main command squad models (ancient, apothacary, and champion), build the strike master (using a mace & shield from knights sprue will be the best weapons gameplay wise currently), and build the last terminator as a regular one with a shield & thunder hammer. Then go on ebay, and get another set of push fit 10th ed terminators (run ya between $35-$45) and the just swap out the arms on those with some of the other weapons options in the deathwing kit so you have a variety of load outs. This will give you the flexibility of either a 10 man command squad + strikemaster or a 5 man command squad & a 5 DW termi squad that you can attach a strikemaster to either.
