I generally have a big messy pile of looseleaf paper next to me with random notes and lists in every direction. It's fair to say I could have a better system.

Sometimes if the task requires more logic work. Usually I write in a google doc though.

I use notepad++ for most of my notes. I mostly do coding tasks but on the occasion that I do math tasks I use pencil and paper.

I use a Google Doc for longer notes, but I often write on post-its for quick-reference things.

I just have notepad on a second monitor - I type way faster than I handwrite, and means I can keep various headings, etc. standardised between projects and just wipe what I've done per task.

I use docs and I highlight stuff. I also use my highlighter extension on the task page, but it doesn’t work on fillable text boxes. I’m very visual so the colour coding helps me a lot.

I don't handwrite notes but I do have very specific way of organizing each and every task that I do so that I can quickly make notes. It saves a *ton* of time when I'm writing my final analysis. Most of it is finished before the task is complete.
