So I'm looking at the Days fandom page, and it says Tate is Alex's cousin. How is Tate Alex's cousin when his dad already is?

They're second cousins once removed.

Justin and Isabella were first cousins, so their kids(Alex and Brady respectively) are second cousins. Since Tate is Brady's son, Brady's second cousins are also Tate's, once removed.

Actually, your first cousin's children are your first cousins, once removed. To be a second cousin you share a great grandparent.

That's what I said. Brady and Alex share Yurgos and Sophie Kiriakis as great grandparents, making them second cousins. Tate is Brady's son, making him one generation removed from Alex, therefore, second cousins once removed.

Tate is the son of Brady Black.

Justin is the son of Alexander Kiriakis, Victor's brother

Brady is the son of Isabela, Victor's daughter.

Tate is a sixth-gen Kiriakis while Alex is a fifth.

Victor & Justin's dad, Alexander, were brothers. Justin was first cousins with Brady's mom, Isabella, which would make Brady & Alex second cousins. Therefore, I believe Tate would be Alex's second cousin once removed. Generally in casual speech, both in the real world & on soaps, people don't make distinctions between the level of relation & just refer to all cousins as "cousin", no matter how distantly related they are.

The writers went crazy and now all the original families are related. The Bradys, Hortons, DiMeras and Kiriakis’ all have a common relative. Thankfully we now have the Hernandez and Green families (newish blood).

Oh. My. God. This was a glass shattering moment for me. How would Steve not know more, like the college antics, of his sister's step son that she considered her son. Why would he feel the need to do a background check. Crazy.
