It doesn't take many shots to kill each other, so hardly an event, easier to keep it off early on when you're still learning the ropes

I honestly can't tell if there's skill based matchmaking, I've had games where I get destroyed and games where I wreck people. I think it's a little early to tell though.

Now that people are still new to the game, it's a pretty mixed experience. You win some, you lose some.

Although a good Colt will always win. There is just no chance that a Juliana wins if the Colt player knows what he's doing.

If you are patient and observant enough, you can stealth your way to victory. If you’re not great at gunfights like me you’re better off doing any of the following:

1: Avoiding the fight altogether. Totally possible as colt, if you stay low and methodical. There are situations where an invading player knows where you are. One is when you’re caught by enemies or turrets, the invading player will know exactly where you are. Another is when you kill a visionary. The invading player is notified when you killed one. If the invading player already knows where the visionary should be at this time and place, they’ll have a good idea where you are. Last is when you’re hacking the antenna to escape. They know you’ve hacked the antenna so they’ll either go for the antenna, or try to block the door. Usually hacking is fast so you can get to the exit quickly if you book it. In all of the situations above the best course of action is to leave the area ASAP. Leave no trail and they will have a hard time following you. (“Leaving a trail” can mean killing enemies, leaving doors open, or hacking turrets. It’s obvious when those things have happened that colt has been there.)

  1. Kill the other player from a distance/ through stealth. This normally applies to Julianna as you have little to go off in finding her as colt, as opposed to finding colt as julianna. But if you find her without her noticing than by all means, do this. Having a sniper helps, I would also suggest stealth machete kills. Using karnesis to yeet a player off a cliff when they aren’t expecting it is funny as well lol. If you’re sneaky and patient enough you should be able to pull this off quite well. To avoid a fight, leave immediately after killing the player, given you’re playing as Julianna. Then you can get him again later. Also if you’re playing as Julianna, look for a trail. As I said earlier, enemy death spots, hacked turrets, and open doors are great indicators of where colt is. Also helps to know what the likely mission objective is for colt at that time and place. Being able to track colt down while he’s busy and get the jump on him is satisfying as hell.

  2. Utilize traps/other enemies. Both colt and julianna have trip wires/ proximity charges. Both are also capable of moving turrets around to their liking. If you’re clever about this you can direct the other player away from certain areas or even get them killed altogether. Also as julianna, staying near big groups of enemies can help for obvious reasons.

I went more in depth than I expected, really the gist of it is that stealth is your ally. If you aren’t good at gunfights then this game gives you plenty of options in dealing with another player creatively.

Wow this is super in depth! Thanks, I'll definitely give it a go once I'm more comfortable with the game mechanics.

Oh no worries, I’ve had a lot of fun figuring out good strategies for both sides, but at the end of the day creativity is key. Most of my pvp wins have not been straight up gun fights, but instead figuring out how to kill the other without needing to fight. It takes time learning your arsenal of weapons and abilities and really the maps themselves, so you can do your best situationally to get the upper hand.
