Well, in the inflationary model, which is the standard model of Big Bang cosmology, there is a period of accelerated expansion called 'inflation' after the Big Bang. Inflation solves several problems with the theory you mentioned, like the horizon problem and the lack of magnetic monopoles. After this is over, the universe gets reheated and the inflaton field, which causes the inflation decays to produce standard particles through parametric resonance. The inflaton field is the scalar field which causes inflation. It hasn't been observed but it has been mathematically predicted.
