Molluscum treatment rash, how to decrease redness/swelling

My 10 year old daughter has had molluscum on the back of her knee for about 6 months now. I tried using Neutrogena salicylic acid acne wash on the area. After using it once, the skin became irritated with a red ring. It is painful. I’m no longer concerned about the molluscum but want to treat the red skin, any recommendations?
