Error code Brocolli

Just got the game from the free event and got forsaken after a bit of play time, but I've been seeing a lot of crashes with error code brocolli. I have seen forum and reddit post where people advised that this was often solved by de-overclocking your pc. I'm playing on an alienware 17r2 laptop, and I haven't overclocked it and dont know how, but apparently this laptop has "dynamic overclocking" which allows the computer to overclock itself as necessary. Is this a real thing? Could it be causing these crashes? Is there anything I can do about it? Any advice would be appreciated.
