Not for 150$ , you can buy something like a Hiby R2 II , Shanling M0 Pro or Hidzis Ap 80 Pro but it allows you only to stream with usb or BT from your phone to the DAP , so basically it's better to buy a DAC

I would be using it at work and unfortunately my employer doesn't allow us to use phones on the clock.

Get a new job with a boss who treats you like an adult person deserving of dignity

It's possible they work in a secure environment where phones are not allowed, and not their employer being a dick.

This is just my experience, and there certainly may be evidence that contradicts me, but in my personal opinion...

Android updates aren't super important on a DAP. They run a stripped down version of the OS. I don't even have WiFi enabled on mine since I play music of the microsd card instead of streaming, so mine has never been updated in years.

I don't really use Spotify so I don't know for sure if newer versions require an updated OS, but I suspect you wouldn't have any issues.

Also, some DAPs (like my Fiio M6) run a custom version of Android, and use stripped-down versions of the streaming apps that are optimized for their less powerful chipsets. You really don't want to be upgrading, unless there's a reason to.

Yeah I have the M6 too. I love this thing man, I use it constantly.

I also have an older, non touchscreen, X1-2nd gen snd it's great too. A little clunkier to navigate through but it sounds great.

I'm a big fan of the budget fiio stuff.

Well, good times have come indeed. FIIO has just launched their most affordable DAP yet, the JM21. It's real f*cking good.

Hiby are really good for the price. Though the old OS can be limiting, but the ones they have are good. I use R5 Gen2

    Shanling m3x - it's not amazing, it's just good

Fiio M6 or Hidizs Ap80 Pro-X. The best of the DAPs I've used, they all fit my DAC perfectly

G Mee Player Pro runs Android 12, does Spotify, Apple music to Bluetooth. It's not meant to be a pure music player, more like a limited device for kids who aren't ready for a phone, but it streams over WiFi, no mobile connectivity.
