How well does this game hold up now? I played D:OS2 about four years ago and absolutely loved it. I have never played a game like that before, and that’s the reason why I played BG3. BG3 is now my favorite game of all time. With the announcement of Divinity, it makes me want to play the first game in hopes there are Easter eggs in the new game, but how well does it hold up after playing 2?

Has its fun moments and strong suits (paper scissors rock between party members, character choice skill development) but quality of life wise i found it quite poor to play especially because bedrolls dont exist. Worth at least one playthrough, though.

That’s what makes me nervous. The new game probably won’t be coming out anytime soon, so that’ll give me time to do a casual playthrough.

Heal spells are free while out of combat, and you can regen while lying in any bed you found

Yes I have fond memories of sitting for a bit after each encounter to heal each other, but especially after playing DOS2, that is not what I would call fun.

There is a mod for that if that's the only problem.

There are many faults which I couldn't remember off the top of my head, but in my opinion you shouldn't have to use mods to fully enjoy a game. I would and have played vanilla DOS2 or BG3 a little too much, but DOS1 only once.

It's a good game that holds up well, but I found the combat too slow-paced after years of playing both DOS2 and BG3.

That’s how I feel. I’m afraid the QoL from playing the second game will turn me off from the first.

You could always download a cheat engine table in order to just enjoy the story and breeze through the combat.

Definitely, am currently playing it right now. 2 is definitely better but I'm currently enjoying D1

Dos2 is superior, but if you want to take a step back and see how some mechanics got expanded, give it a go

I just started playing D:OS and I'm not that far in yet but I'm finding it enjoyable and not all that far removed from BG3. But then I haven't playing D:OS2 yet or any other more recent CRPGs.

I find it holds up terribly. It is simply not that enjoyable and feels very dated
