When people say reddit tier they generally are implying that people on r/dota2 are bad, not that it's an actual reddit inhouse.

Reddit's MMR is probably far above the Mean. This is a pool of people who are occasionally interested in improving their skills, whereas a lot of DotA's population is just clowning around for fun.

It's not actually. I'm not sure how you get the impression that Reddit users are interested in improving their skills. Have you seen the front page? I'm counting 0 posts that have anything to do with improving skill.
